Job Title: MOT Tester / Technician

Salary: £40,000 £50,000 per annum (depending on experience + annual bonus)

Location: Abingdon, Oxfordshire

We are seeking an experienced and qualified MOT Tester / Technician to join a well-established, independent garage based in Abingdon. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in high-quality workmanship, values a strong team environment, and is looking for a stable, Monday-to-Friday role with no weekend requirements.

About the Role

In this role, youll be responsible for carrying out MOT tests (Classes 4, 5, and 7), as well as diagnosing, servicing, and repairing a variety of vehicles. You'll be expected to work independently and efficiently while maintaining the high standards the garage is known for. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a busy but well-organised environment.

The client is a long-standing independent garage with an excellent reputation for honest, reliable service and strong customer loyalty. Their team is small, friendly, and highly experienced. They take pride in doing things properly, and as such, theyre looking for a like-minded individual who shares the same values.

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM 5:30 PM
  • No weekend work required
  • Annual bonus scheme offered
  • Must have own tools

Key Duties

  • Carrying out MOT tests for Classes 4, 5, and 7 in accordance with DVSA standards
  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and Electrical faults across all vehicles makes and models
  • Performing servicing and general maintenance
  • Using diagnostic tools to identify faults accurately
  • Keeping clear and accurate job records
  • Maintaining workshop safety and cleanliness

Key Requirements

  • Valid MOT Testing Licence covering Classes 4, 5, and 7
  • NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair
  • Hybrid/EV qualification desirable
  • A minimum of 8 years UK-based experience in the automotive sector
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
