About the Role: As a Sous Chef, you'll be the right hand to the Head Chef, helping to craft and deliver an exceptional menu using locally sourced, high-quality ingredients. You'll ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen, maintain high standards of food hygiene, and mentor junior staff. This role offers a chance to innovate and bring your culinary ideas to life in a supportive environment.

About the Client: Our client runs a beautifully refurbished Grade II listed pub set in the picturesque village of Heckfield. Known for its friendly atmosphere, open fires, and commitment to local produce, the pub has a rich history and a strong reputation for quality. The team is like a family, working together seamlessly to provide an unforgettable experience for their guests.

Working Hours:

  • 5-day working week
  • Rota shifts with split shifts

Key Duties:

  • Assist in menu planning and development
  • Prepare and cook dishes to the highest standards
  • Manage kitchen staff and oversee operations in the Head Chef’s absence
  • Maintain kitchen hygiene and safety standards
  • Collaborate with local suppliers

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Passion for using fresh, local ingredients
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
