Our Communications team is committed to sharpening how the market understands Karat; we build the channels, campaigns, and executive presence that position Karat as the definitive measure of talent.

What you will do

As Senior Director, Communications at Karat, you will own the company's entire communications function, spanning external, internal, executive, and crisis communications, and serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and leadership team.

• Set and evolve Karat's integrated communications strategy, advising the CEO and leadership team on narrative, messaging, timing, and stakeholder impact.
• Own media relations end-to-end, building proactive relationships with journalists and producers across business, technology, workplace, and trade press.
• Develop integrated campaigns with Product Marketing and Demand Generation that turn thought leadership, research, and product milestones into stories that break through.
• Build and run the CEO's platform across social, the company blog, earned media, and speaking opportunities, including the executive editorial calendar.
• Lead internal and executive communications for major company moments, keeping employee-facing and external narratives aligned.
• Guide crisis and issues communications, coordinating response across Legal, People, Sales, and Marketing as needed.
• Manage our PR agency and other communications partners to measurable outcomes, tracking KPIs across earned media, executive visibility, and employee understanding.

The experience you will bring

• 15+ years of progressive communications experience spanning media relations, corporate, executive, and internal/change communications
• Significant in-house experience at a high-growth technology or B2B company navigating rapid growth
• A track record of building journalist relationships and securing high-quality earned coverage
• Demonstrated success developing narratives and campaigns that connect strategy, product, and industry conversation
• Experience building executive platforms and coaching executives for media, speaking engagements, and high-stakes moments
• Exceptional writing and editorial judgment, from executive social content to all-hands remarks
• Experience guiding communications through periods of growth or high-stakes change, with discretion and sound judgment
• Experience managing PR agencies or communications partners to measurable outcomes
• Fluency in how AI is reshaping hiring, talent assessment, and workforce planning, a plus

U.S. Compensation Varies by Geographic Location

At Karat, salary ranges for each U.S.-based position are determined by the employee's work location. We structure our compensation into geographic tiers based on market data and regional economic factors.

Base Salary (GeoLo 1)

$200,000—$220,000 USD

Base Salary (GeoLo 2)

$180,000—$198,000 USD

Base Salary (GeoLo 3)

$160,000—$176,000 USD

Base Salary (GeoLo 4)

$140,000—$154,000 USD
