KARL CHEVROLET
Serving New Canaan & Fairfield County Since 1927
— Now Approaching Our 100th Year —
AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE TECHNICIAN – LEVEL B
Full-Time | New Canaan, CT
About Karl Chevrolet
Karl Chevrolet is a family-owned dealership that has been part of the New Canaan community for nearly 100 years. We're not a big-box auto group. We're a tight-knit team where your work is seen, your growth is supported, and your contributions genuinely matter. Our service department is the backbone of this business, and we invest in the people who run it.
The Opportunity
We're looking for an experienced Level B technician who has moved beyond routine maintenance and is ready to take ownership of diagnosis and repair. This role is ideal for someone who can work independently on most jobs, knows how to chase down a problem, and wants to keep building toward Level A and master-level GM certification. If you're confident in your skills, take pride in getting it right the first time, and want a shop where your expertise is valued and your career has somewhere to go, this is the place.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose and repair electrical, drivability, brake, steering, suspension, HVAC, and engine performance concerns
- Perform repairs on most vehicle systems with minimal supervision, from routine service through moderate-complexity jobs
- Use GM diagnostic tools and service information to troubleshoot accurately and efficiently
- Complete customer-pay, internal, and GM warranty repairs to factory standards
- Document every diagnostic step, complication, and additional repair clearly and completely. If you did it, write it up. Thorough documentation is how your work gets fully recognized and paid
- Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to your service advisor
- Support and share knowledge with Level C technicians as they develop
- Keep your bay clean and organized and follow all shop safety standards
Who We're Looking For
- 3+ years of hands-on automotive repair experience (dealership experience strongly preferred, GM experience a plus)
- ASE certifications in multiple areas (A4, A5, A6, and A8 preferred), or GM training in progress
- Solid electrical and diagnostic skills, comfortable reading wiring diagrams and using scan tools
- Valid Connecticut driver's license with a clean driving record
- Your own professional-grade tool set
- Able to manage your time and workload efficiently with limited oversight
- Strong communicator and team player who's willing to help newer techs
- Detail-oriented: you do the job right and you document it properly
- Motivated to advance toward Level A and GM Master Technician status
What We Offer
- Competitive hourly pay, commensurate with experience and certifications
- Production and Hi-Tech bonus opportunities on qualifying work
- Company-sponsored health insurance (medical, dental, and vision). Karl Chevrolet covers 75% of your medical premium
- Paid time off and paid holidays
- 401(k) Retirement Plan with generous company match
- GM training and certification support to help you reach Level A and beyond
- Monthly performance visibility so you always know where you stand and how to improve
- Access to more complex, higher-value work as your skills grow
- A stable, family-oriented work environment where loyalty and effort are recognized
Why Karl Chevrolet
We've been doing this for nearly 100 years because we take care of our people and our customers. At Karl Chevrolet, experienced technicians aren't just another number on a dispatch board. You'll work alongside long-tenured colleagues, have a management team that communicates openly, and be part of a culture built on mutual respect. We're growing our service department and actively investing in the people who want to grow with us.
Karl Chevrolet is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
We welcome applicants of all backgrounds, experience levels, and walks of life.
