The posting

When you’re the best, we’re the best. We instill an environment where employees feel engaged, satisfied and able to contribute their unique skills and talents while living and working as their authentic selves. We provide extensive opportunities for personal and professional development, building both employee competence and organizational capability to fuel exceptional performance through an inclusive environment both now and in the future.

Vizient Intern Program Overview:

This program is designed to foster a beneficial relationship and provide growth opportunities for Vizient, our employees, and collegiate students. Since 2000, our summer intern program has provided college undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students with practical experience that exposes them to multiple aspects of a career field and the healthcare industry. This full-time, paid intern program offers an opportunity to accelerate academic learning, apply classroom knowledge, and introduce students to a professional setting. Interns are assigned a supervisor to mentor/develop their business skills, as well as monitor their work experiences. Interns are integral members of the company’s team, setting goals, working toward deadlines, and actively participating in community service projects.

The program requires the intern to commit to 10 weeks of participation in all formal training, mentoring, on-the-job learning, and opportunities to interact with senior leaders.

· Program starts June 1, 2027, and ends August 6, 2027

· Pay rate: $25/hr

What we will do:

We provide the tools and training necessary to succeed, as well as provide intentional development opportunities such as:

· Exposure to senior leadership to discuss the project, strategy, and milestones.

· Network opportunities with cross-functional teams to learn about various areas within the organization.

· Personalized strengths coaching.

· Participate in company meetings and key culture events.

· Value-added project management skills.

· Intern-led community impact project and various team-building activities outside of work.

What you will do:

The intern will support the Digital Connections & Collaboration team in exploring practical applications of artificial intelligence, workflow automation, business intelligence, and digital process optimization. Working alongside leaders responsible for community engagement, digital collaboration, reporting, and operational excellence, the intern will help identify opportunities to streamline work, improve access to information, enhance reporting, and increase staff capacity through technology.

This role will focus on practical use cases such as Microsoft Copilot, Power BI, Power Automate, AI agents, workflow design, reporting frameworks, knowledge management, and digital engagement analytics while contributing to real business challenges and strategic initiatives. By the end of the internship, the intern will leave behind usable artifacts such as working flows, prototypes, dashboards, reporting frameworks, documented processes, and implementation recommendations that the team can maintain, refine, and scale after the summer.

AI Exploration & Enablement

· Research and prototype practical AI use cases that improve productivity, reporting, knowledge discovery, and decision-making.

· Explore Microsoft Copilot, GPT-based tools, AI agents, workflow orchestration concepts, and related emerging technologies.

· Design and test prompts, instructions, and workflows that help users retrieve information and complete tasks more efficiently.

· Document findings, recommendations, and responsible-use considerations for future implementation.

Reporting, Analytics & Insights

· Partner with leaders and key stakeholders to identify the questions group leaders and senior leadership need answered quickly and consistently.

· Support development of dashboards, reports, and KPI frameworks using Power BI, enterprise data platforms, and related analytical tools.

· Help define the KPIs, metrics, business rules, and data requirements needed to support accurate AI-assisted queries, dashboards, and automated insights.

· Validate AI-generated or automated outputs against source data to ensure results are accurate, explainable, and appropriate for business use.

Process Improvement, Automation & Innovation

· Prototype reporting workflows that connect adoption signals, member engagement, unanswered questions, content activity, and follow-up opportunities.

· Create sample prompts, GPT instructions, agent workflows, or Copilot-enabled use cases that translate natural-language questions into reliable reporting outputs.

· Document workflows, assumptions, data definitions, prompts, and recommendations so the team can continue refining and scaling the solution after the summer.

· Provide regular progress updates and deliver a final readout with a demo, lessons learned, recommended next steps, and opportunities for broader automation.

What you will need:

· Enrolled in a four-year accredited college, university, or graduate program in good academic standing.

· Must have completed the sophomore year as an undergraduate before the start of the internship, or have recently completed your degree.

· Basic understanding of working in a hybrid environment, workplace ethics, and effective communication.

· Strong computer skills with Microsoft 365 and an eagerness to learn; exposure to Power BI (Power Query, visuals and basic DAX), Power Automate, Databricks, SharePoint/OneDrive and Teams is a plus, or show similar skills from coursework or projects.

· Demonstrates analytical, critical thinking and spreadsheet skills (Excel pivot tables, lookups, etc.) required.

· Experience using AI tools like ChatGPT and/or Microsoft Copilot to draft communications, summarize threads and turn ambiguous requests into tasks with responsible use practices (no sensitive data, validate outputs, document prompts).

· Good organization and planning skills, and demonstrate effective project coordination, facilitation, and implementation based on past work or school experiences.

· Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to analyze and synthesize information for problem-solving are preferred.

· Strong interpersonal skills for interacting across the team and potentially with internal Vizient business partners, external members, and suppliers.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
