Title:

Director, Strategic Finance

About KBR:

KBR — Delivering Solutions, Changing the World.

KBR brings together the best and brightest to deliver science, technology and engineering solutions that help governments and companies around the world accomplish their most critical missions and objectives.

Role Summary:

KBR is seeking a strategic and analytically rigorous Director of Strategic Finance to lead financial modeling and analysis for the company’s strategic and enterprise decisions. Reporting to the Vice President of Investor Relations and Strategic Finance, this role partners with Enterprise FP&A, business and regional finance leaders, Corporate Development, Accounting and executive leadership to evaluate growth opportunities, long-range targets, capital allocation and other value-creation priorities. This hybrid role is based in Houston, TX.

The Director will build and own strategic models, evaluate scenarios and trade-offs, and translate complex analysis into clear recommendations for senior leadership and the Board. The role will also lead guidance and earnings analysis, investor and consensus insights, and other high-priority financial projects. The successful candidate will combine strong financial judgment and modeling skills with clear communication and executive presence.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Modeling: Build and own financial models for strategic initiatives, long-range targets and enterprise decisions. Evaluate assumptions, scenarios, risks, trade-offs and value-creation opportunities.
  • Strategic Projects: Lead high-priority analysis for the CFO, CEO and executive leadership, including portfolio, operating model, growth and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Capital Allocation and M&A: Evaluate capital deployment alternatives and strategic transactions with Enterprise FP&A, Treasury, Corporate Development and business leaders.
  • Board and Executive Support: Develop Board and executive materials that connect financial analysis, performance and market context to clear implications, choices and recommendations.
  • Guidance and Earnings: Lead the analysis and development of financial guidance, earnings materials, executive Q&A and supporting scenarios. Translate the outlook, sensitivities, risks and opportunities into clear stakeholder messaging.
  • Forecast and Consensus Analysis: Partner with Enterprise FP&A on forecasts, quarter-end expectations and key financial drivers. Monitor sell-side estimates, investor expectations and market reaction, and identify implications for guidance and investor engagement.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Work closely with finance and business leaders, using the enterprise forecast and planning process as the financial baseline for strategic, Board and investor analysis.
  • Communication and Capability Building: Create concise presentations and written narratives for senior leadership, the Board and investors. Build repeatable tools and processes and strengthen analytical capabilities across the finance organization.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related field; MBA, CPA, CMA or CFA preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in strategic finance, FP&A, corporate finance, investment banking, investor relations or a related field, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Strong financial modeling, forecasting, scenario analysis and valuation skills.
  • Experience supporting earnings, guidance, Board materials or other high-stakes financial communications in a large public company.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to turn complex analysis into clear recommendations.
  • Strong judgment, discretion and executive presence in fast-paced, highly visible situations.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills; experience with enterprise planning systems, financial databases and business intelligence tools preferred.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience in investor relations, strategy, corporate development or transaction-oriented finance.
  • Strong understanding of public-company financial statements, capital markets, valuation and investor expectations.
  • Ability to challenge assumptions, connect financial analysis to business strategy and recommend clear actions.
  • Collaborative and effective across FP&A, Accounting, Treasury, Corporate Development, business finance and executive leadership.
  • Proactive, curious and comfortable owning ambiguous, high-priority work with integrity and accountability.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
