Dean, College of Education

A Carnegie R2 institution and the state of New Jersey’s first officially designated Urban Research University, Kean embraces an anchor institution mission, leveraging its educational and scholarly programs to foster the economic, social, cultural, and physical well-being of communities throughout the state, the nation, and around the world. Working closely with community partners, Kean crafts outstanding degree and non-degree programs for graduate and undergraduate learners, addresses the needs of the governmental, business, health care, and nonprofit sectors, and accelerates student success. Kean launched a new campus, Kean Jersey City on July 1, 2026, becoming the second largest university system in the state and extending our geographic presence to New Jersey’s largest population center. Kean also operates a joint Sino-US campus, Wenzhou Kean University, in Zhejiang Province in the People’s Republic of China.

Kean’s College of Education is focused on preparing teachers and other education professionals for work in diverse educational settings. The College offers undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs through departments including: Bilingual Education, TESOL and World Languages; Early Childhood Education; Educational Leadership and Secondary Education; Elementary and PE/Health Education; and Special Education and Literacy. The College also includes infrastructure to support the professional preparation of educators, with an Office of Teacher Certification and Alternate Route Programs and an Office of Student Placement and Clinical Experiences. Kean's Betty C. Elrod Cobb `75 Center for Early Childhood Education provides quality care and education for the children of Kean students, faculty and staff. The Center is open to the public and enrolls children from neighboring communities.

Under the direction of the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean acts as the chief academic leader and administrative officer of the College of Education. The Dean is responsible for the overall administration of the College, including academic program quality, faculty and staff leadership, student success, strategic planning, budgeting and resource management, accreditation, enrollment initiatives and external partnerships. Working collaboratively with university leadership, faculty, staff, students, alumni and community stakeholders, the Dean fosters a culture of academic excellence and innovation, while ensuring compliance with institutional policies, accreditation standards and applicable laws and regulations. The Dean also works with campus leadership and the Kean University Foundation to secure private philanthropic resources to support the College’s mission. This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours.

Qualifications: Candidates must have a terminal degree in a field related to the disciplines within the college; a distinguished scholarly or professional record within their discipline appropriate to lead and evaluate faculty and staff; and a minimum of five years of progressive academic leadership experience with a strong educator-preparation background, including understanding of teacher preparation, educational leadership, special education, curriculum/instruction and/or other relevant education programs. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
