The posting

Kela is a defense technology startup pioneering next-generation defense technology, from command & control software to complete field-deployed systems. We empower defense organizations with robust, scalable, and secure platforms that integrate diverse sensors and AI to deliver real-time battlefield intelligence. Backed by leading investors, Kela combines Israeli innovation with global mission impact.

We move faster than any defense startup you've worked at, and faster than most commercial ones. Prototypes go from sketch to metal in weeks, not quarters. If that pace sounds energizing rather than exhausting, keep reading.

Requirements

We are looking for a hands-on Field Operations Specialist to own the operational preparation, coordination and execution of flight tests, demonstrations and field activities for drone systems.

The role combines office work and fieldwork, with the balance changing according to company needs, including periods of intensive field activity. All activities take place in Israel.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare operational readiness plans and execute field activities according to agreed plans and priorities.
  • Coordinate requirements and resources with development teams, engineers, drone operators and external partners.
  • Ensure activity sites, equipment, vehicles and infrastructure are ready. Track preparation tasks, identify gaps and drive solutions.
  • Coordinate transport, equipment and supplies with Logistics and Procurement, with purchasing and warehouse management handled by those teams.
  • Set up, connect, deploy and operate drone systems and supporting equipment, including ground equipment, communications systems, batteries and control equipment.
  • Perform checks before and after activities according to procedures, pack down equipment and prepare it for further use.
  • Provide operational and technical support during flight tests and demonstrations. Troubleshoot basic faults and work with engineering and development teams to resolve complex issues.
  • Create and maintain procedures and checklists. Document activities, faults and operational gaps, capture lessons learned and follow through on improvements and outstanding tasks.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of relevant experience in field operations, systems operations or a similar technical operations role. Relevant military experience is fully recognized as equivalent to civilian experience.
  • Strong planning, organization and coordination skills, with the ability to manage tasks across multiple teams.
  • Technical aptitude and hands-on experience setting up and operating equipment, performing checks and troubleshooting basic faults.
  • Independence, initiative and personal ownership, with the ability to drive tasks through to completion.
  • Strong attention to detail, adaptability and resourcefulness when solving problems in the field.
  • Good interpersonal skills, a collaborative approach and a willingness to learn and develop.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Good English proficiency.
  • A valid driving license.
  • Willingness to perform hands-on fieldwork throughout Israel, including intensive periods and variable working hours.

Advantages

  • Experience flying drones or operating UAV/UAS systems.
  • A relevant drone pilot license or certification.
  • Experience preparing for and supporting flight tests.
  • Experience in the technology or defense industry, or military experience operating technical systems or coordinating field operations.
  • Familiarity with command and control systems, communications systems and ground equipment.
  • A degree in Industrial Engineering and Management, Engineering or a related field.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
