The posting

Position Summary The Senior Accountant supports centralized, multi-entity accounting for a growing organization with capital equipment, custom manufacturing, service, distribution, and rentals.

This position will be primarily responsible for the capital side of the business, including assigned month-end close activities, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany activity, recurring schedules, operational reporting, job-costing review, CAM calculations, and accounting-system documentation. The role also provides payroll and time-data support, including entering approved hours, validating variances, documenting exceptions, and responding to employee questions; payroll processing and final approval remain with the designated payroll owner.

The Senior Accountant will also provide backup support for distribution sales accounting and close activities when the distribution sales counterpart is unavailable or when competing deadlines require additional coverage. This is an individual contributor role with no initial direct reports and an opportunity to grow into broader accounting responsibilities.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working across multiple entities, investigating discrepancies, following issues through resolution, and improving processes as ERP and payroll software workflows mature.

Responsibilities

Capital Sales Accounting and Month-End Close • Support equipment, manufacturing, and service sectors through recording expenses, invoicing customers, and providing operational reporting. • Manage jobs to ensure proper documentation, treatment and closure. • Prepare assigned balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items promptly. • Prepare assigned month-end journal entries including prepaid expenses, capitalrelated activity and service activity among others. • Perform routine intercompany reconciliations and document outstanding items through resolution. • Review job-costing reports and CAM calculations for completeness, reasonableness, and unusual activity; investigate discrepancies as needed. • Support financial statement preparation and close-package schedules. • Identify unusual balances, trends, and variances and escalate issues appropriately. • Provide backup support for distribution accounting and close activities when coverage is needed.

Payroll and Time-Data Support • Enter approved service and engineering hours and validate shop-hour variances between systems. Assist in the transition to better hour tracking in ERP system. • Support payroll input processing and document time-data exceptions. • Respond to employee questions related to hours, time entry, and system issues. • Escalate wage, bonus, policy, payroll-processing, and final-approval matters to the appropriate payroll owner, HR, or Accounting Manager. • Maintain payroll checklists, documentation, and backup procedures. • Support payroll-related reconciliations and transaction review without owning payroll processing or final payroll approval.

Payables, Cash, Reporting, and Customer Support • Prepare accounts payable payment files and supporting documentation. This role does not approve or release payments. • Prepare sales and cash reports for assigned entities. • Post daily customer check deposits and apply payments to open invoices. • Prepare holding-company bank reconciliations. • Process service invoices and support CAM calculations for rental operations. • Prepare customer setup documentation, credit applications, and system records. • Support collections and customer-account research as it pertains to operational sectors.

ERP Implementation and Process Improvement • Support ERP implementation activities, testing, issue follow-up, and user documentation. • Help rebuild SOPs for the ERP, payroll, month-end close, reconciliations, and recurring reports. • Identify duplicate work, manual workarounds, and control gaps. • Support system testing, troubleshooting, process documentation, and workflow improvements. • Participate in cross-training to create reliable department backup coverage. • Use ERP and HR-system data accurately and consistently.

Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field is preferred; equivalent progressive accounting experience will also be considered. • Three to five years of progressive accounting experience, including month-end close and account reconciliations. • Strong understanding of debits, credits, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial close processes. • Experience working with multiple entities and recurring accounting deadlines. • Ability to investigate issues, document conclusions, and follow through to resolution. • Strong Excel and data-analysis skills. • Ability to work on-site and collaborate directly with the accounting and operational teams.

Preferred Experience • Multi-entity accounting experience. • Capital equipment, manufacturing, distribution, inventory, job-costing, rental, or service-accounting experience. • Payroll input or payroll-processing support experience. • Experience with Acumatica, Rippling, or similar ERP and HR/payroll systems. • Experience with inventory, margin, job-costing, CAM, or operational accounting reports. • Experience supporting an ERP implementation, acquisition integration, or accounting-process redesign.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
