Eagle Harbor Solutions, LLC a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Strategic Communications Specialist with a Secret security clearance to support EHS and our government customer. Koniag Government Services (KGS) is seeking an experienced Strategic Communications Specialist to support a DoW client. This position will be part of a collaborative communications team responsible for increasing awareness of a DoW client’s mission, activities, and accomplishments. The ideal candidate is a strong writer and creative communications professional who can turn complex or technical information into clear, engaging content for a variety of audiences. This role offers the opportunity to work across a broad range of communications activities, including digital content, social media, newsletters, leadership communications, conferences and outreach, and multimedia products. The Strategic Communications Specialist will work closely with the Strategic Communications Lead and other team members to develop and execute communications and marketing activities in support of the DoW client. The position requires an individual who is comfortable balancing multiple projects, working with subject matter experts and senior leaders, and developing high-quality communications products for both internal and external audiences. Key responsibilities include:

Assist the Strategic Communications Lead with day-to-day communications, outreach, and marketing activities and execution of the overall communications strategy. Research and assess the social and traditional media landscape, including key themes, audiences, emerging issues, and other factors that may affect or support the agency’s mission. Develop engaging, audience-focused content for use across multiple communications channels, including the client’s website and other approved digital platforms. Draft and edit a wide variety of communications products, including news articles, press releases, social media posts, newsletters, presentations, leadership talking points, video and other materials. Work with program leadership and subject matter experts to translate technical and programmatic information into clear, compelling content that can be understood by a variety of audiences. Research and recommend opportunities to increase awareness of the agency’s mission through conferences, webinars, podcasts, industry events, and other outreach and engagement opportunities. Support the development and production of outreach and marketing materials, including brochures, conference and exhibit materials, presentations, videos, and other communications products. Develop and coordinate a periodic program newsletter, including identifying potential content, gathering inputs, drafting and editing articles, coordinating leadership review and approval, and supporting distribution. Monitor media coverage related to the Client’s mission and activities and identify relevant trends, themes, and issues. Collect and analyze media and news data and develop reports that communicate key findings through written analysis, charts, graphs, key takeaways, and recommendations. Coordinate communications products through DoW’s review and approval processes and incorporate feedback from leadership, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders. Help ensure communications products are accurate, consistent, timely, and aligned with the agency’s messaging and communications objectives. Support additional communications, marketing, outreach, and content development activities as needed.

Education and Experience: Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English, or a related field. Professional experience in strategic communications, public affairs, marketing communications, journalism, or a related field. Demonstrated experience researching, writing, editing, and developing communications content for multiple audiences and platforms. Experience developing professional communications products such as news articles, newsletters, web content, social media posts, presentations, press releases, or leadership materials. Experience conducting research and synthesizing information from multiple sources into concise, understandable communications products.

Preferred:

Previous experience supporting a DoW, Federal Government, or other government client. Experience communicating technical, scientific, defense, research and development, or similarly complex subject matter. Experience developing communications materials for senior leaders or executive-level audiences. Experience supporting conferences, exhibits, webinars, podcasts, or other external outreach and engagement activities. Experience supporting multimedia or visual communications products, such as videos, brochures, presentations, or conference displays.

Required Skills and Competencies:

Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills. Ability to take complex information and turn it into clear, concise, engaging content tailored to the intended audience. Strong understanding of strategic communications, audience engagement, messaging, and content development. Ability to write effectively across a variety of formats and platforms while adapting tone and style to the intended audience. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, polished, high-quality work. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and successfully manage assignments from initial concept through review and completion. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
