Join our team and contribute to the development of a common embedded platform that serves as the foundation for multiple product families. Working closely with Systems Engineering, Hardware, Product Management, Cybersecurity, QA, and Cloud teams, you will develop software ranging from Linux-based applications and platform services to firmware running on ARM microcontrollers. Your work will directly influence platform architecture, connectivity, cybersecurity, device management, and future product capabilities. Role Description
Experienced embedded software professional working independently on complex technical challenges. Translates system requirements into software and firmware solutions. Develop software for Embedded Linux systems as well as firmware for ARM-based microcontrollers. Participates in architecture discussions spanning Linux, firmware, communication protocols, and hardware integration. Contributes throughout the entire product lifecycle from concept and development to deployment and maintenance. Collaborates with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure successful product delivery.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain software for Embedded Linux platforms. Develop firmware for ARM-based microcontrollers used in security devices. Design and implement communication mechanisms between Linux processors and microcontroller subsystems. Develop platform services, communication layers, and device management functionality. Develop software and firmware with a focus on reliability, cybersecurity, performance, and maintainability. Customize and maintain Embedded Linux distributions using Yocto or Buildroot. Develop Python-based tools for automation, diagnostics, testing, manufacturing support, and engineering productivity. Support hardware bring-up, board-level integration, and troubleshooting activities. Participate in system verification, validation, certification, and production readiness activities. Collaborate closely with Hardware, Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity, QA, and Product Management teams. Prepare and maintain technical documentation, design specifications, and development guidelines.
Requirements & Technical Skills
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related field. Minimum 5 years of experience in embedded software or firmware development. Strong experience with Embedded Linux development. Excellent knowledge of C/C++. Good knowledge of Python for automation, testing, diagnostics, and development tooling. Experience developing firmware for ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers such as STM32, NXP, TI, or similar platforms. Experience with RTOS environments such as FreeRTOS or Zephyr. Strong understanding of Linux fundamentals. Practical experience with Yocto and/or Buildroot. Experience developing communication protocols and hardware interfaces. Strong debugging skills using JTAG/SWD debuggers, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and related tools. Experience with Git and modern development workflows. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with electronic security systems, including Access Control, Intrusion Detection, or Video Surveillance products. Experience implementing Secure Boot, secure firmware/software updates, and device authentication mechanisms. Knowledge of cybersecurity principles for connected devices. Experience with secure communication technologies such as TLS and certificate-based authentication. Familiarity with Linux kernel customization, BSP integration, or device driver development. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks. Experience working with cloud-connected or IoT devices. Experience collaborating with globally distributed engineering teams.
Ideal Candidate A versatile embedded engineer who is equally comfortable developing Linux applications and low-level microcontroller firmware.
