The posting

About the Company

The company is a growing marine and heavy construction organization operating throughout Florida. The company maintains a significant fleet of heavy equipment and cranes and is committed to keeping its equipment operating safely, reliably, and efficiently in the field.

This is an opportunity to join a growing organization where an experienced mechanic can have a direct impact on equipment operations and potentially grow into a larger leadership role.

About the Position

The company is seeking a hands-on Lead Heavy Equipment / Crane Mechanic to oversee the company's mechanics while remaining directly involved in field repairs, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

This is not an office-based management position. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys turning wrenches, diagnosing problems, and going wherever the equipment needs them. The primary focus will be crane mechanics, with experience working on yellow iron and other heavy equipment highly valued.

The fleet includes equipment ranging from 60-ton rough-terrain cranes to 250-ton lattice crawler cranes, along with hydraulic and other heavy equipment.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow with the company and potentially develop into an Equipment Manager as the organization expands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the company's mechanics while remaining a hands-on field mechanic.
  • Diagnose, repair, maintain, and troubleshoot cranes and heavy equipment.
  • Perform field service and emergency repairs as needed.
  • Work on equipment ranging from rough-terrain cranes to large lattice crawler cranes.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance and equipment reliability.
  • Help prioritize repairs and coordinate mechanical resources.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other mechanics.
  • Travel throughout Florida when equipment requires service.
  • Maintain a high standard of safety, quality, and equipment uptime.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience as a crane mechanic is highly preferred.
  • Heavy equipment/yellow iron mechanical experience is a strong plus.
  • Experience working on rough-terrain and/or lattice crawler cranes.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
  • Ability to work independently in the field.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate other mechanics.
  • Must be willing to remain hands-on rather than transition immediately into an office role.
  • No specific degree or educational background required; practical mechanical experience is the priority.
  • Ability to travel throughout Florida as needed.
  • Must be based in or willing to relocate to Panama City, FL.

Benefits

  • Approximately $120,000–$150,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Relocation assistance available for the right candidate.
  • 401(k).
  • Health insurance.
  • Standard company benefits package.
  • Heavy-duty company service truck, such as an F-550 or Chevrolet 5500, that can be taken home.
  • Primarily home every night, with occasional overnight travel throughout Florida.
  • Long-term opportunity for advancement into an Equipment Manager role.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
