About the Position

Our client is seeking a Vice President of Construction Technology to lead the strategy, growth, and operational performance of its construction technology business. This executive will be responsible for building a scalable technology organization, increasing customer adoption, developing recurring revenue streams, and integrating technology solutions across the dealership.

Working closely with executive leadership, equipment sales, rental, product support, and strategic technology partners, the Vice President will transform construction technology into a profitable, integrated business offering. The ideal candidate combines commercial leadership and financial expertise with a strong understanding of construction equipment, machine control, connected assets, and customer productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy and Business Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive construction technology strategy aligned with dealership objectives, market opportunities, and OEM priorities.
  • Commercial Growth: Drive technology revenue and profitability across equipment sales, aftermarket, rental, and customer-owned fleets.
  • Market Development: Lead go-to-market strategies for machine control, grade control, fleet management, connected equipment, automation, and digital productivity solutions.
  • Recurring Revenue: Expand software subscriptions, technology services, support agreements, and other sustainable revenue opportunities.
  • Organizational Leadership: Build, lead, and develop a high-performing technology organization spanning sales, technical support, service, demonstrations, training, and field operations.
  • Customer Adoption: Increase customer utilization of technology solutions through effective onboarding, implementation, training, and ongoing support.
  • Customer Value: Demonstrate measurable improvements in jobsite safety, production, operating costs, equipment utilization, and overall customer profitability.
  • Financial Performance: Own business performance, including revenue, gross profit, operating expenses, budgeting, resource allocation, and return on investment.
  • Operational Excellence: Establish scalable processes for technology sales, installation, commissioning, service, support, and subscription management.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with equipment sales, rental, service, and parts leadership to integrate technology into customer relationships and account development.
  • OEM and Strategic Partnerships: Build executive-level relationships with Caterpillar, SITECH/Trimble, and other technology providers to align product strategy, customer needs, and business opportunities.
  • Performance Management: Establish KPIs and reporting systems to measure financial results, customer adoption, operational efficiency, and technology utilization.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Evaluate emerging technologies, industry trends, and strategic partnerships to strengthen the dealership's competitive position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in construction equipment, construction technology, heavy equipment distribution, or a related industry.
  • Demonstrated success leading business growth, organizational development, and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including experience managing budgets, profitability, and overall business performance.
  • Proven ability to build and develop teams, lead organizational change, and establish accountability across multiple functions.
  • Excellent executive communication, strategic planning, decision-making, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to translate complex technology solutions into clear customer value propositions and measurable business outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of construction equipment applications, customer operations, and technology-enabled productivity improvements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Senior leadership experience with a Caterpillar dealership, SITECH operation, construction technology provider, or major construction equipment OEM.
  • Familiarity with Caterpillar technology solutions, including VisionLink, Cat Grade, Cat Command, and connected equipment platforms.
  • Experience with Trimble machine control, positioning systems, surveying, and jobsite technology.
  • Background in earthmoving applications, fleet management, construction workflows, and jobsite productivity.
  • Experience developing recurring revenue, technology services, or subscription-based business models.
  • Established relationships with OEMs, technology partners, and construction industry customers.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
