PR & Marketing (Senior) Manager (Media, Event, Partnership) | Retail, Tourism, Events

The Company is a premier Hong Kong-based leader in retail and tourism, managing one of the city's most iconic shopping and lifestyle destinations. Renowned for its vibrant mix of luxury retail, world-class dining, and high-profile events, the company attracts a diverse audience of local and international visitors, including tourists, shoppers, and business partners. With a strong commitment to delivering exceptional experiences, the organization drives innovative marketing, public relations, and partnership initiatives to maintain its position as a market leader.

Amid ongoing growth and an evolving retail and tourism landscape, the company is seeking a strategic and dynamic PR & Marketing (Senior) Manager (Media, Event, Partnership) to lead its public relations, media, and event-driven marketing efforts, primarily focused on its flagship destination in Hong Kong. This pivotal role, within the Marketing team, will focus on enhancing brand visibility, driving event success, and fostering strategic partnerships to elevate the company's reputation. Reporting to the Head of Marketing, you will spearhead comprehensive PR and marketing strategies, lead a small team of 3-4 professionals, and collaborate with internal teams and external partners, including retail and payment business partners, to deliver impactful campaigns. This position is critical in reinforcing the company's leadership in retail and tourism through creative, high-energy, and results-driven initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive public relations, media, and advertising strategies to support mall-led events, seasonal festivities, joint promotions, and tourism-related campaigns, ensuring maximum brand exposure and audience engagement, with a primary focus on the company's flagship shopping destination.
  • Lead a small team of 3-4 professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and strategic direction to ensure successful execution of PR, media, and event initiatives.
  • Initiate and negotiate collaborative opportunities with diverse business partners, including retail tenants and payment platforms, to enhance event promotions and amplify publicity across Hong Kong and beyond.
  • Lead the planning, execution, and post-event evaluation of retail and tourism events, assessing effectiveness and ROI to optimize future campaigns and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Oversee daily media relations operations, including crafting high-quality press releases, securing media coverage, and managing digital channels (e.g., social media, corporate website) for events, campaigns, and ad hoc announcements, with hands-on involvement in content creation in both Chinese and English.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets, journalists, and industry influencers, expanding the media database to include Hong Kong, mainland China, and regional markets for enhanced brand visibility and tourism promotion.
  • Conduct market research to identify target audiences (e.g., tourists, shoppers, and retail partners) and develop tailored PR and marketing pitches to promote the company's events and initiatives, ensuring alignment with tourism information and trends.
  • Provide strategic direction and creative input for content layout and messaging, ensuring polished and professional presentation across all media and marketing materials.
  • Prepare business reports and compile market intelligence on PR, advertising trends, tourism data, and broader business development needs to support the management team's decision-making process.
  • Periodically review and advise on PR and advertising performance tracking methodologies, ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in reporting and analysis.
  • Act as the lead point of contact for media interactions, demonstrating tactful and articulate responses to inquiries from journalists, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Participate in ad-hoc assignments to support the company's broader objectives, including stakeholder engagement and strategic marketing initiatives.
  • Be available for standby and overtime work during events, particularly during festive holidays, to ensure smooth delivery and execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in public relations, media, or marketing, with a preferred mix of agency and in-house exposure, particularly in-house experience from property developers, shopping malls, tourism, quasi-governmental bodies, public organizations, or sizable companies, with specific experience in mall-related PR and events highly preferred.
  • Proven expertise in developing and executing high-impact PR and marketing strategies, with a track record of securing media coverage, managing events, and fostering strategic partnerships, particularly with retail and payment business partners.
  • Strong connections with media outlets, particularly in e-media platforms, and a robust understanding of tourism, retail, and event-driven marketing, with a focus on promoting shopping and lifestyle destinations.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality written content (e.g., press releases, marketing collateral) in both Chinese and English, with hands-on experience in content creation and layout design.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua), with strong presentation skills for creating compelling marketing and media materials and the ability to provide articulate and tactful responses in media and stakeholder interactions.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with a proactive, creative, and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience leading small teams of 3-4 professionals in high-pressure environments.
  • Strong project management and multitasking abilities, with resilience to work under pressure and flexibility to work standby or overtime during festive holidays and events to ensure smooth delivery.
  • Proven relationship management skills, with experience in media pitching, stakeholder engagement, partnership negotiations, and maintaining robust media contacts for tourism and retail promotion.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
