Vice President, Growth Equity – Mainland China

About Your Company

An established Asia-based private markets firm, investing from a USD fund. The team runs a growth equity mandate covering Mainland China, with a current focus on AI and the semiconductor supply chain. This is a senior investing seat: origination, execution and portfolio management sit with the same person.

About your role

  • Originate growth equity opportunities across Mainland China, with priority on AI and the semiconductor supply chain.
  • Screen and evaluate targets, lead commercial, financial and legal due diligence, and build the investment case for the partners.
  • Structure and negotiate equity positions, run term sheets and transaction documents, and take deals through to closing.
  • Manage portfolio companies after investment, tracking operating and financial performance and supporting follow-on decisions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with founders, management teams, advisers and co-investors in the Mainland China market.
  • Report regularly to the partners and investors on pipeline, live deals and portfolio performance.

What you will need to succeed

  • Around 6 or more years of relevant experience, including time spent investing in or covering Mainland China.
  • Direct experience with a USD fund, in growth equity, private equity or a closely related investing seat.
  • A track record across origination, deal execution and portfolio management, not execution alone.
  • Working knowledge of AI and the semiconductor supply chain, and of how companies in those sectors create value.
  • Strong financial modelling, valuation and structuring skills.
  • Fluent written and spoken English and Mandarin.
  • The maturity to engage founders and senior counterparties, and to work independently.
