Job Description

Role Summary:

The primary purpose of this position is to support the Director of Portfolio Analysis in the analytical and investment function of the Corporate Development team focused on the operating business units. The Associate will build and maintain the financial models, valuation analyses and performance reporting that measure returns across the King Ranch (“KRI”) operating business units. Working under the direction of the Director, the Associate will conduct financial statement analysis, support the underwriting of internal growth initiatives, add-on acquisitions and capital projects tied to KRI’s existing business units, and contribute to special projects for the executive team, investment committee and board of directors. Working with the business unit and corporate finance teams, the Associate gathers and validates operating and financial data and translates it into clear, accurate analysis that informs capital allocation, performance and value creation decisions across our portfolio.

What to Expect in the Role:

  • Support the analysis of financial performance and returns across KRI’s operating business units, measuring actual results against plan, prior periods and internal return thresholds
  • Build and maintain valuation models for business units and internal projects, including discounted cash flow, comparable company and precedent transaction analyses, under the direction of the Director
  • Prepare and update the periodic performance, returns and valuation reports for the executive team, investment committee and board of directors, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
  • Support the underwriting of internal growth initiatives, add-on acquisitions and capital projects for existing business units, building the models that quantify returns and value impact
  • Assist the Director with special projects spanning valuation, corporate finance and operational analysis in partnership with the VP of Corporate Development and executive leadership
  • Maintain and enhance the financial models, analytical frameworks and dashboards that standardize performance and returns measurement across business units
  • Prepare presentations, memos and supporting analytical materials for corporate development, capital allocation and investment-oriented meetings
  • Coordinate with division and corporate finance teams to gather, validate and reconcile operating and financial data, and escalate data issues or inconsistencies to the Director
  • Conduct research and competitive/market analysis to support capital allocation and business unit benchmarking
  • Perform quality-control reviews of model inputs, outputs and formulas, and document key assumptions and methodologies

What We Will Be Needing From You:

  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments, meet deadlines and adapt to shifting priorities while supporting senior leadership
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to summarize analysis into clear, accurate findings for review by the Director
  • Strong financial modeling and valuation skills, including DCF, comparable company, precedent transaction and returns analysis
  • Knowledge of GAAP and experience in financial statement analysis
  • Familiarity with capital structure, cost of capital and return metrics (IRR, ROIC, MOIC)
  • Ability to analyze operating performance, unit economics and business-unit-level returns
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in models, data and presentation materials
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Highly organized, ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
  • Ability to manage time-sensitive tasks and handle confidential information with discretion
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field
  • 2-4 years proven experience; investment banking, private equity, corporate development or transaction advisory background is ideal

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
