KIPP Oklahoma is a part of a national network of free, open-enrollment, public charter schools offering a choice to families and children in Tulsa and Oklahoma City. We are driven and committed to our mission and vision.

KIPP Oklahoma currently educates over 1,000 students and supports hundreds of alumni. Today, the KIPP Oklahoma network consists of KIPP Tulsa Public Charter Schools (grades 5th – 12th) and KIPP OKC Public Schools (grades PreK - 5th). KIPP OKC Public Schools is growing one grade per year until they are a full PreK – 8th grade program.

Job Description

Part-Time School Bus Driver

KIPP OKC Public Schools

Position Type: Part-Time | Guaranteed 20 Hours Per Week

Position Summary

KIPP OKC Public Schools is seeking a dependable, safety-conscious, and student-centered Part-Time School Bus Driver to safely transport scholars to and from school. The ideal candidate is punctual, responsible, and committed to providing a safe, reliable, and welcoming transportation experience for our scholars.

This position offers guaranteed 20 hours per week and requires availability for both morning and afternoon transportation routes.

Schedule and Responsibilities

Morning Route: Approximately 5:30 AM – 7:35 AM

  • Arrive on campus by 5:30 AM to complete the required pre-trip bus inspection and prepare for the morning route.
  • Safely transport scholars to school, ensuring all scholars arrive on campus by 7:35 AM.
  • Follow assigned routes and established transportation procedures.

Afternoon Route: Approximately 2:00 PM – 4:30 PM

  • Return to campus by 2:00 PM to complete preparations for the afternoon route.
  • Safely transport scholars from school to their designated drop-off locations.
  • Ensure scholars arrive at their designated drop-off locations according to the established route schedule, with the final drop-off completed by 4:30 PM.
  • Return the bus to campus after completing the route.
  • Complete the required post-trip inspection and any necessary end-of-route documentation.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and respectful environment on the bus.
  • Comply with all applicable state and federal transportation regulations and school policies.
  • Communicate transportation concerns, delays, vehicle issues, or student safety concerns to the appropriate school personnel.
  • Maintain accurate transportation records and complete required inspections and reports.
  • Participate in additional driver training as needed or required.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) appropriate for school bus operation.
  • Valid school bus driver certification.
  • Ability to pass all required background checks and drug screenings.
  • Willingness to complete additional driver training as necessary.
  • Reliable transportation and consistent, punctual attendance.
  • Ability to safely operate and inspect a school bus.
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to scholar safety.
