The Kitimat Community Development Centre (CDC) is seeking a compassionate and skilled Rehabilitation Assistant to join our interdisciplinary team supporting children and youth from birth to 19 years of age. This is an opportunity to work in a rewarding community-based setting where your expertise will directly contribute to helping children reach their full potential. About the Role In collaboration with families and the therapy team, the Rehabilitation Assistant provides direct and indirect therapeutic support for a designated caseload. Responsibilities may include assisting with screening and assessment activities, implementing treatment plans, consultation, report writing, program development, statistical recording, and community education initiatives. Services are delivered in a variety of settings including homes, schools, daycare centres, the Child Development Centre, and community environments. Key Responsibilities
Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Build and maintain positive working relationships with children, families, colleagues, and community partners. Assist in the development and implementation of individualized service plans and family-centred goals. Implement therapeutic, recreational, and physical activities under the direction of supervising therapists. Provide services in homes, schools, daycares, the CDC, and other community settings. Support caseload management and service delivery priorities. Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and collaborative planning. Advocate for children and families within interdisciplinary teams. Assist in developing educational opportunities for families, community members, and staff. Connect families with community resources and facilitate referrals when appropriate. Maintain accurate documentation, statistics, and service records. Communicate effectively with families and professional partners, both verbally and in writing. Practice KCDC values including family-centred, strengths-based, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and collaborative approaches. Follow KCDC policies, procedures, health and safety standards, and professional best practices. Work independently while effectively organizing and prioritizing responsibilities.
What You'll Bring Required Qualifications
Rehabilitation Assistant Certificate or equivalent training Valid BC Driver's Licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
Preferred Experience
Experience working with infants, children, and youth in community, school, health, or rehabilitation settings. Strong knowledge of child development, sensory processing, and family-centred practice. Experience working within interdisciplinary teams. Understanding of culturally safe and trauma-informed approaches to service delivery.
