Are you ready to unlock intelligence?

If you don’t think you meet all of the criteria below but are still interested in the job, please apply. Nobody checks every box - we’re looking for candidates that are particularly strong in a few areas, and have some interest and capabilities in others.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Writer to join our growing team. This role will be responsible for creating and maintaining clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation for our products, ensuring our users and developers have the information and resources they need for success.

As a Senior Technical Writer at Kong Global Inc., you will be responsible for:

- Developing, writing, and editing high-quality technical documentation, including API docs, developer guides, reference documentation, and release notes, for a variety of audiences.

- Collaborating closely with product managers, engineers, and other docs writers to gather information, understand product functionality, and ensure documentation accuracy and completeness.

- Conducting thorough research to gather technical information, including interacting with subject matter experts, analyzing product specifications, and testing software.

- Testing to validate documentation content and ensure accuracy.

- Utilizing Command Line Interface (CLI) tools to test and document software features.

- Managing and maintaining existing documentation, including regular updates, revisions, and deprecation of outdated content.

- Implementing and improving documentation processes and standards, including document management and version control using Git.

- Reviewing docs for technical accuracy and adherence to established guidelines.

- Contributing to project planning and project management efforts related to documentation deliverables, ensuring timely and effective execution.

- Actively participating in product management discussions to provide insights and ensure documentation alignment with product strategy.

- Owning documentation strategy for a specific product area — going beyond writing to understand how docs influence adoption, reduce support burden, and surface unmet use cases, then prioritizing content work accordingly.

- Partnering with product and field teams to identify where documentation gaps are blocking user success, and proposing content investments based on user behavior, support tickets, or adoption data rather than just backlog requests.

To be successful in this role, you will possess the following qualifications:

- 3+ years of experience in technical writing within a software development environment.

- Proven expertise in software documentation, including experience with API documentation and developer guides.

- Understanding of API testing and experience with relevant tools.

- Proficiency with Command Line Interface (CLI).

- Experience or an interest in AI.

- Solid experience with Git for version control and collaboration.

- Demonstrated ability to perform thorough research and synthesize complex technical information.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.

- Experience with documentation maintenance, document management, and document reviewing processes.

- Experience treating a documentation area like a product — setting priorities based on user impact and adoption, not just ticket volume or team requests.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.
