This position will be responsible for administering approximately 135 servers and desktops while supporting both cloud-hosted and on-premises technologies.

The ideal candidate will have a strong Windows administration background, practical experience with automation and scripting, and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues across the network, hardware, operating system, database, and application layers. This role requires a hands-on professional who is comfortable learning new technologies, working independently, and supporting a diverse technical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Administer and maintain Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, user accounts, security groups, permissions, and related enterprise services. Manage the configuration, patching, and ongoing support of approximately 135 servers and desktop systems. Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts used for application deployment, system configuration, patching, administration, and task automation. Perform software installations and updates across server and desktop environments using PowerShell-based deployment methods. Support Linux systems, including manually installing RPM packages, modifying configuration files, managing services, reviewing logs, and performing general troubleshooting. Assist with the configuration and support of Docker-based applications and environments. Perform basic installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Microsoft SQL Server. Execute basic SQL queries, review database information, and assist application teams with database-related troubleshooting. Provide basic support for MongoDB environments hosted on Linux, when required. Support physical and virtual infrastructure, including desktops, servers, storage area networks, and associated network components. Maintain and administer a VMware environment consisting of a three-node cluster and VMware vCenter. Create and maintain virtual machine templates, deploy new virtual machines, and patch and manage the VMware vSphere environment. Build and maintain custom Windows desktop images using Microsoft Deployment Toolkit and Windows Deployment Services. Perform bare-metal imaging and deployment of desktop systems. Support AWS infrastructure and troubleshoot application connectivity within and external to the AWS environment. Review and modify AWS security groups, network access control lists, routing tables, and related network configurations. Assist with automating AWS administrative and operational tasks using Python or other scripting tools. Diagnose system and application performance problems and identify whether bottlenecks originate from the network, hardware, operating system, database, virtualization, cloud, or application layer. Document system configurations, administrative procedures, deployment processes, troubleshooting activities, and environment changes. Collaborate with application developers, database administrators, network engineers, security personnel, and other technical stakeholders. Support future infrastructure changes, including potential migrations between cloud-hosted and on-premises environments. Participate in after-hours maintenance, patching, deployments, and incident response when necessary.

Required Qualifications:

Strong professional experience administering Microsoft Windows Server environments. Demonstrated experience with Active Directory and Group Policy administration. Proficiency with PowerShell scripting and automation. Experience deploying applications and configuration changes to servers and desktop systems through automated PowerShell processes. Working knowledge of Linux administration, including package installation, configuration-file management, service administration, and command-line troubleshooting. Experience supporting desktop computers, physical servers, storage systems, and associated network infrastructure. Experience administering VMware vSphere, VMware ESXi, and VMware vCenter environments. Experience creating virtual machine templates and deploying and maintaining virtual machines. Experience creating and maintaining custom Windows images using MDT and WDS. Experience performing bare-metal Windows desktop deployments. Working knowledge of AWS networking and infrastructure concepts, including security groups, network access control lists, route tables, subnets, and application connectivity. Basic knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server installation, configuration, administration, and querying. Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to isolate performance and availability issues across multiple technology layers. Ability to independently research unfamiliar issues, learn new technologies, and develop practical solutions. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to document technical processes and communicate technical issues to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience supporting Docker containers and containerized applications. Experience administering MongoDB on Linux. Python scripting or automation experience. Experience supporting SAN technologies and enterprise storage platforms. Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments that include both AWS and on-premises infrastructure. Experience planning or supporting cloud-to-on-premises or on-premises-to-cloud migrations. Familiarity with monitoring tools, log analysis, capacity planning, and system performance tuning. Experience working in an environment that requires coordination across infrastructure, networking, database, application, and security teams.

Core Competencies:

Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities. Hands-on, proactive approach to system administration. Ability to identify the root cause of complex infrastructure and application issues. Willingness to learn unfamiliar technologies and take ownership of technical challenges. Ability to prioritize competing assignments in a mixed operational and project-based environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to reliable, secure, and maintainable systems. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a broader technical team.

Work Environment: This position is fully on-site supporting a hybrid cloud environment consisting of AWS resources, Windows and Linux servers, VMware virtualization, physical hardware, enterprise storage, desktop systems, databases, and business applications. The role may require occasional work outside normal business hours to support scheduled maintenance, patching, deployments, outages, or other operational needs.

Here’s what you’ll need:

Minimum 5 years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure support, or a closely related technical environment. Strong proficiency with Windows Server administration, including Active Directory, Group Policy, user and system management, and enterprise desktop support. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
