Job Description

KPMG’s International Tax practice is part of a globally connected network of professionals who work with multinational organisations to provide commercially focused advice on cross-border tax matters.

We help clients manage the complexities of managing global structures and transactions, as well as meeting their tax obligations relating to multiple tax systems and supranational regulation around the world.

Your Opportunity

Joining the International Tax team, this role will see you:

  • Developing relationships with inbound and outbound multinational clients, to gain an understanding of their businesses, and work with their tax and finance teams.
  • Leading multiple engagements of varying size and complexity.
  • Advising clients on complex cross-border tax matters.
  • Producing well-researched tax opinions, including coordinating multi-jurisdictional tax advice from KPMG member firms.
  • Supervising, guiding and mentoring a team of junior tax consultants who will assist in the delivery of advice and other team initiatives.
  • Building networks across KPMG’s Tax & Legal division in Australia and our global network.

The role requires strong commercial acumen with corporate tax and/or international tax experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifying and analysing international tax issues. Formulating technical advice for large multinational groups or in respect of cross border investment.
  • Structuring inbound and outbound cross-border transactions – advice on the tax consequences of individual acquisitions, joint ventures and divestments.
  • Advising clients on technical or compliance matters in relation to Pillar Two.
  • Feeding the outcomes of relevant international tax analysis into the preparation of income tax returns including relevant disclosures in the International dealings schedule and Reportable tax position schedule.
  • Working with clients who have investments overseas to ensure best practice and compliance with the various revenue and other regulatory bodies globally.
  • Reviewing and applying tax treaties. Providing advice to clients on the impact of tax treaties on their business structures.

Your Experience

  • Comprehensive technical ability and experience of applying international tax law which is backed by a commercial understanding and ability to project manage large transactions.
  • The ability to build robust relationships at all levels, internally and externally.
  • A commitment to client service with a proven track record of developing strong relationships with clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, supervise and mentor team members.
  • A desire to contribute to team success along with a motivated and dedicated work ethic.

How You Are Extraordinary

You lead with values:

  • You are a kind and compassionate leader with a passion for developing your leadership skills to get the best out of a diverse and multidisciplinary team.
  • You are tuned in to business development opportunities, with confidence to pursue these and work with other parts of KPMG’s Tax & Legal division in Australia and our global network.
  • You actively seek out opportunities for growth, are comfortable challenging the status quo on both technical matters and processes and enjoy getting out of your comfort zone.

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in law or commerce with post-graduate study in accounting or tax.
  • This role will suit a tax professional with corporate tax and/or international tax experience in either a professional or legal services firm (experience working in an in-house role will be considered).

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
