Manager, Security & Facilities

OVERVIEW:

The Manager, Security & Facilities is the company's first dedicated leader for multi-site security and facilities management. The role is responsible for protecting the company's people, property, materials, fleet, and information across its Georgia, Florida, and Alberta sites. It owns the company's video surveillance and access control programs and manages contracted security services at each site. It also oversees campus facilities vendors and the contracts that protect company assets such as the vehicle fleet. In addition, the role leads emergency preparedness, disaster response, and crisis management planning. It is the company's primary point of contact for security-related investigations, incident response, and coordination with local law enforcement and emergency services, and it builds the security and facilities program essentially from the ground up.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Video Surveillance & Investigations:

  • Own and manage the company's video surveillance and access control systems across all sites, ensuring cameras, recording equipment, and related infrastructure are properly maintained and fully operational
  • Monitor surveillance footage and access logs to identify security concerns, policy violations, and suspicious activity
  • Responsibly use surveillance footage and access records to support investigations into theft, safety incidents, workplace complaints, and other security-related matters, in partnership with HR and company leadership as appropriate
  • Maintain proper documentation, chain of custody, and retention of surveillance footage and investigation records

Contract Management:

  • Manage the relationship and day-to-day performance of the contracted security services provider staffing the front gates and controlling site access at each site
  • Establish and enforce post orders, access procedures, and visitor/contractor check-in protocols with the security contractor
  • Monitor contractor performance against service-level expectations; conduct regular post checks and audits
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for escalations, incidents, or performance issues involving contracted security staff
  • Manage the relationships and contracts for the company's campuses at all sites, which may include landscaping vendors, small construction projects, and similar services
  • Manage the relationships and contracts, in conjunction with Finance and Purchasing, pertaining to the company’s assets (such as the company fleet)

Emergency Management & Disaster Response:

  • Collaborate closely with Safety, IT, and other relevant departments to maintain the company's emergency preparedness, business continuity, and disaster response plans
  • Coordinate the company's response to natural disasters, severe weather, and other emergencies at any company site, including activating emergency protocols and communication plans
  • Plan and conduct emergency drills and tabletop exercises (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, active threat) to test readiness and identify gaps
  • Maintains contracts for onsite safety systems such as sprinklers, fire alarms, etc. at all sites
  • Build and maintain relationships with local emergency services, law enforcement, and emergency management agencies to support coordinated response
  • Lead post-incident reviews after emergencies or disasters and update plans based on lessons learned

Security Program Leadership:

  • Establish and continuously improve the company's overall security program, policies, and procedures, since this is a newly created function for the company
  • Conduct periodic security risk assessments of each site, including perimeter security, and recommend improvements to physical security controls
  • Train employees, managers, and contractors on security procedures, emergency protocols, and their role in maintaining a secure workplace
  • Partner with HR, Operations, and Facilities leadership to align security and emergency preparedness efforts with broader company safety goals
  • Manage the security program's budget, including surveillance equipment, contracted security services, and emergency preparedness resources

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Facilities Management, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in corporate or physical security, facilities management, or a combination of both, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Experience supporting multiple sites, including sites in more than one state or country, is strongly preferred. Experience in emergency management, business continuity, or disaster response planning is strongly preferred. Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) is preferred. Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Facility Management Professional (FMP), or Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) is a plus.

SKILLS / COMPETENCIES:

  • Working knowledge of video surveillance (CCTV/VMS) and access control systems
  • Strong investigative skills, including interviewing, evidence handling, and clear incident documentation
  • Proven ability to manage a third-party security services contractor and hold them to performance standards
  • Sound knowledge of emergency management, business continuity, facilities management, and disaster response planning
  • Calm, decisive, and clear communicator under pressure and during emergencies
  • Ability to build effective relationships with local law enforcement and emergency services agencies
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, able to partner with HR, Operations, and Facilities
  • Excellent written communication and report-writing skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Frequently:

  • Walking the site and perimeter, including outdoor areas and the front gate, in varying weather conditions
  • Sitting at a desk and monitoring surveillance systems for extended periods

Occasionally:

  • Responding to incidents or emergencies outside normal business hours, including nights and weekends
  • Lifting or moving security and emergency-response equipment
  • Site visits to all KSB GIW, Inc. sites (Georgia, Florida, and Alberta, CAN)
