About Kulfi

Kulfi is where couples in India spend time together, even when they can't be in the same place.

About 100 million unmarried Indian couples don't get to be together most nights. Different cities, different homes, parents around. A phone is all they have. So they join a class just to be near each other, or stay on a one-way call, or watch a movie over video. They do all this for love, and nothing was built for them.

We are building that. Kulfi is a digital experiences app for couples, and close to a million people already use it. We did not get here by spending. Daily users grew 4x in 30 days this summer. We added 100,000 users in the first 20 days of August without paying for a single ad. 80% of all play happens between 9pm and midnight. That is bedtime, and we own it. We are backed by South Park Commons and by founders and CEOs from Swiggy, Mosaic Wellness, Snitch and Moonshot.

Next is an AI personalization engine for games. Every couple gets a new game every day, made for them on the spot from what they like. Our team already ships a new game in about two days. No couple should run out of things to do together.

India has more couples than any other country. We want every one of them on Kulfi.

We are a small, high-intensity team. Your work will reach real users quickly, and you will be expected to notice what is broken—not wait for someone else to notice it for you.

What you will do

App-Level Product Management

  • Own the Core Funnel: Optimize app-level surfaces end-to-end—onboarding, couple-pairing/invite flows, home tab navigation, and permission prompts (push notifications, mic, media).
  • Drive Retention & Notification Loops: Architect the lifecycle messaging engine (push, in-app nudges) tailored around couples' bedtime usage (9 PM–midnight).
  • Monitor App Health & Friction: Track app-level hygiene metrics (app cold-start time, crash-free sessions, ANRs, session length) and systematically eliminate UX friction points across Android and iOS devices.

A/B Testing & Experimentation

  • Run a High-Velocity Experimentation Engine: Formulate crisp, hypothesis-driven test designs across onboarding variants, invite copy, game discovery feeds, and engagement triggers.
  • Define Metrics & Guardrails: Establish clear primary success metrics (e.g., D1/D7 retention, couple-activation rate) alongside explicit guardrail metrics (e.g., unsubscribe rates, session abandonment) for every test.
  • Own Telemetry & Instrument Events: Define and audit exact tracking schemas (clicks, impressions, state changes) in tools like PostHog, Mixpanel, etc. to ensure clean event telemetry before launching variants.
  • Analyze & Iterate: Interpret experiment results using sound statistical principles (statistical significance, minimum detectable effect, sample size calculations), document post-test readouts, and scale winners while killing losers fast.

Discovery & Execution

  • PRDs: Write concise, zero-fluff specs with explicit edge cases, state diagrams, and variant logic that engineers (and Claude) understand in one-shot.

What we are looking for

A. Super Curiosity (The "Why" Driver)

  • First-Principles Breakdown: You constantly dissect consumer apps—deconstructing why an onboarding flow converts, why a specific push copy gets opened, or why an experiment produced counter-intuitive data.
  • Obsession with Human Behavior: You care deeply about relationship psychology and bedtime rituals, spending time understanding what motivates couples to return every night.
  • Hunger for Data Nuance: You do not accept surface-level dashboard summaries; you segment cohorts (OS, network speed, partner presence) to uncover hidden patterns.

B. High Agency (The "Make It Happen" Driver)

  • Proof of Unprompted Building: You have designed, shipped, or operated something from scratch—a campus product, a micro-SaaS, or an automated tool.
  • Zero Learned Helplessness: If tracking is broken, you read the documentation and debug the payload. If copy is missing, you write five variants. You never wait for someone to unblock you.
  • Extreme Ownership

C. Experimentation & Analytical Rigor

  • Statistical Common Sense: Solid grasp of sample sizing, confidence intervals, p-values, and false positives. You understand why declaring an A/B test winner after 12 hours is misleading.
  • Funnel Literacy: Deep familiarity with conversion mechanics, cohort retention curves, and leading vs. lagging indicators.
  • Communication Clarity: Exceptional structured writing—capable of summarizing complex experiment results and trade-offs in three concise bullet points.
  • Working knowledge of SQL

Bonus points (helpful, not required)

  • Hands-on experience with experimentation platforms or feature flagging.
  • Familiarity with modern AI prototyping stacks (Cursor, Lovable, v0) to demonstrate functional product flows.

Interview process

  1. Application Screen: Focused strictly on proof-of-work, clarity of thought, and personal projects.
  2. 15-Minute Intro Screen: Evaluates agency, pace, and core motivation.
  3. 60-Minute Live Product & Experimentation Jam
  4. 45-Minute Founder Chat: Deep dive into ambition, work ethic, self-direction, and cultural alignment.
  5. Reference Checks: Concrete verification of agency, grit, and speed of execution.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
