The Role

Your Role

As a Senior SAP BW/ABAP Developer & Support SME, you will be responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting SAP Business Warehouse solutions that enable enterprise reporting and analytics. You will work closely with business stakeholders and cross-functional SAP teams to deliver scalable data warehousing solutions, ensure data integrity, and provide expert-level production support across SAP BW and ECC environments.

What will you do:

  • Design, develop, and maintain SAP BW data models, extraction processes, transformations, and reporting solutions.
  • Build and support BW objects including DataSources, InfoPackages, DTPs, DSOs/ADSOs, InfoCubes, Composite Providers, Open Hub extracts, and master data models.
  • Develop and optimize ABAP-based BW routines, user exits, and custom enhancements.
  • Design, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain complex Process Chains and data loading processes.
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolution of production incidents, data discrepancies, and reporting issues.
  • Support and maintain integrations using DB Connect, UD Connect, SDKs, and external data sources.
  • Analyze data flow across DataSources, transformations, InfoProviders, and reporting layers to ensure data quality and consistency.
  • Collaborate with functional teams across FICO, SD, MM/Procurement, EWM, SCM, and Planning domains to understand reporting requirements and deliver effective solutions.
  • Participate in the full SAP BW lifecycle including design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Ensure adherence to development standards, quality assurance processes, and performance optimization best practices.

Required Technical and Professional Experience:

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in SAP Business Warehouse (SAP BW) development and support.
  • Expertise in SAP BW 7.x including extraction, modeling, query design, and BW-related development.
  • Strong experience with BW Extractors, Master Data, DSOs/ADSOs, InfoCubes, Composite Providers, Open Hub, DTPs, InfoPackages, and Process Chains.
  • Proven experience in developing Expert Routines, Start Routines, End Routines, and BW-specific ABAP enhancements.
  • Advanced debugging skills across SAP BW, ABAP, and SAP ECC environments.
  • Experience supporting SAP BW 7.4 on ABAP Stack SP19 and SAP ERP ECC 7.3 environments.
  • Strong understanding of ETL processes, data warehousing concepts, and reporting architectures.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting process chain failures, data load issues, and complex production incidents.
  • Experience with external connectivity technologies including DB Connect, UD Connect, SDKs, and SQL-based integrations.
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP ECC integration and support for both 3.x and 7.x DataSources.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in at least two end-to-end SAP BW implementations or multiple large-scale support engagements.

Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise:

  • Experience serving as a SAP BW Subject Matter Expert (SME) in global enterprise environments.
  • Strong functional understanding of SAP modules including FICO, SD, MM, Procurement, EWM, SCM, and Planning.
  • Experience supporting large-scale reporting and analytics environments with high data volumes.
  • Knowledge of performance tuning and optimization techniques within SAP BW.
  • Exposure to hybrid SAP landscapes and integration with external data platforms.
  • Experience leading incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to troubleshoot ambiguous or intermittent system issues with minimal error definitions.
  • Strong documentation, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing capabilities.
  • Experience working in complex production support environments with stringent service-level agreements (SLAs).
  • Exposure to SAP BW modernization initiatives and migration projects is an added advantage.
