The posting

👋🏻 Hello, we're Laka

You might not have heard of us yet - that's OK, you've found us now - come and find out more about our journey...

Founded in 2017, Laka set out to transform insurance by connecting passionate cyclists to form a collective and protect their bikes for when things go wrong - a better model for insurance was born. For once people come first in insurance by fairly sharing the cost amongst each other. We exist to rewrite the rules of insurance so it’s something people stand with, not against.

Our model: Laka makes sure everything runs smoothly for The Collective - from exceptionally fast claims, splitting the cost fairly, guaranteeing a maximum price and all the other heavy lifting of a regulated insurance business. For that service, the collective pays Laka a fee relative to the claims in a month.

Take a closer look at exactly what this means and how it works here.

What have we been up to since then...?

In a nutshell, we've been very busy! Here are a few of the massive achievements we've had:

🚀 Raised an awesome Series B investment round

🚀 Grown the team to over 60 Lakanauts, based across the UK, NL and France, enabling a choice-based, hybrid way of working

🚀 Launched Laka in a total of 11 countries, essentially helping more people in more places!

🚀 Captured the UK, NL and French enthusiast cyclist market and expanded into commercial business partnering

🚀 Been awarded 'Best Cycle Insurance Provider' (for the past 8 years in a row - go us! 🥳)

🚀 Opened 3 shiny new offices in London, Bristol & Amsterdam to provide spaces for people to collaborate as they like

🚀 We've also achieved a 5* rating on Google Reviews and Glassdoor - go check us out!

Help us continue to change an outdated industry...

We’re growing fast on our path to make the Laka collective model the industry standard and we’re expanding across segments, products, and territories. We’re looking for innovative, bold and brave minds to help us build the world’s best insurance company.

🤘🏼 The Commercial Operations Analyst role

Laka's Commercial team manages partnerships with bike brands, retailers, leasing companies and fleet operators across the UK, France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. We have fewer, bigger partners and long sales cycles. So what matters is getting the numbers right: every invoice, every commission statement and every report a partner sees. You'll own that, and build the reporting and processes that help the team grow its accounts.

You'll report to the VP Commercial.

What you'll be getting up to:

  • Invoice and commission checks
  • Check the partner invoices Finance prepares each month: all of them there, on time, and right against contract terms, including group partners billed across several subsidiaries, entities and currencies (GBP/EUR)
  • Check partner commission statements before they go out, and make sure every partner gets theirs on time
  • Build checks and automation so errors are caught before anything reaches a partner
  • Own the contract register: commission rates, fees, billing entity, renewal and notice dates for every partner
  • Reporting and dashboards
  • Build and maintain dashboards in Count (SQL) on partner performance: policies sold, capital acquired, revenue, commission, and trends by market and segment
  • Report account profitability: loss ratio and margin by partner (premium vs claims vs commission vs fulfilment costs), showing which accounts are worth growing and giving evidence for rate reviews and renewals
  • Own the weekly partner reporting with Finance and Data, including how accounts are tagged and mapped
  • Spot what looks off in the numbers and raise it with the account owner
  • Partner QBRs
  • Prepare QBR packs for partners: performance, trends and agreed actions
  • Run the QBR calendar so key accounts are reviewed on a regular cadence
  • Sales process and deal support
  • Map and tighten the handoffs from signed deal to go-live: contract, pricing set-up, onboarding, first invoice
  • Support deal modelling: commission economics, partner business cases and fee structures
  • Keep HubSpot tidy enough to be useful: accounts, owners, contacts and key dates
  • Automation and tools
  • Find manual, repetitive work in the team and automate it (Sheets, Retool, Zapier, AI tools, scripts)
  • Keep templates, playbooks and process docs up to date

Requirements

👉🏻 This role will be a great fit if you:

  • About you
  • 2 to 5 years in commercial ops, revenue ops, FP&A, business analysis or similar
  • Strong with numbers and data
  • Experience building dashboards in a BI tool (Count, Looker, Metabase, Tableau or similar)
  • Rigorous: you reconcile before you send, and you build checks so the same mistake doesn't happen twice
  • Experience reconciling invoices, commissions or billing data, ideally across entities and currencies
  • Curious about automation and AI, and you've used them to remove manual work
  • Organised and autonomous, happy to build process where little exists, and confident pushing back when it isn't followed
  • Clear communicator with partners and internal teams
  • Nice to have
  • Insurance, fintech or B2B2C partnerships
  • French, Dutch or German
  • Python or another scripting language
  • An interest in cycling

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
