Are you an experienced security, safety, emergency preparedness, facilities, or life-safety professional looking for a leadership opportunity where your work directly impacts people's well-being?
LifeSpire of Virginia is seeking a Safety, Security & Emergency Preparedness Manager to lead campus safety, security, emergency preparedness, concierge services, transportation operations, and related safety programs within our senior living community.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can balance security and safety operations with exceptional customer service.
You'll lead and develop our security and concierge team, oversee campus safety and emergency preparedness, manage access control and security technology, coordinate with law enforcement and emergency responders, investigate incidents, and help ensure residents, families, visitors, and team members experience a safe and welcoming community.
This is more than a security job.

What You'll Lead
Campus Safety & Security
- Lead and develop the security and concierge team across multiple shifts.
- Recruit, train, coach, schedule, and evaluate team members.
- Establish clear expectations for safety, security, customer service, and accountability.
- Oversee daily campus security operations and respond to safety concerns.
- Manage access control systems, badges, call boxes, parking operations, and related security technology.
- Partner with Facilities and Support Services to identify security risks and improve campus safety.
- Conduct routine safety and security reviews and recommend improvements.
Emergency Preparedness & Life Safety
- Lead emergency preparedness planning and response procedures.
- Coordinate fire safety programs, emergency drills, and after-hours preparedness activities.
- Maintain emergency procedures, checklists, training materials, and communications.
- Help ensure compliance with applicable life-safety requirements, company policies, and regulations.
- Coordinate with internal departments to prepare for emergencies, severe weather, evacuations, and other critical events.
- Serve as a key resource during emergency situations.
Investigations & Incident Management
- Conduct and coordinate campus investigations.
- Review incident reports for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate follow-up.
- Identify trends and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and confidentiality.
- Partner with leadership and appropriate outside agencies when incidents require additional response.
- Serve as a primary liaison with local law enforcement, fire departments, EMS, and emergency services.
Resident Experience & Concierge Services
- Oversee the 24-hour concierge operation and establish high standards for service.
- Ensure security procedures support a welcoming and respectful resident experience.
- Coach team members on communication, professionalism, conflict resolution, and customer service.
- Develop processes that protect residents while maintaining their independence, dignity, and quality of life.
Security Technology & Continuous Improvement
- Administer and train team members on security and operational systems, including SARA and Worxhub.
- Evaluate opportunities to use technology to improve safety, security, communication, scheduling, and operational efficiency.
- Develop and maintain performance metrics and scorecards.
- Analyze safety, security, incident, and resident-service data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Lead special projects and operational improvements as assigned.
Transportation Operations
- Oversee Transportation Services, including scheduling, processes, quality control, and operational procedures.
- Work with team members to ensure transportation services are safe, reliable, and resident-focused.
- Identify opportunities to improve transportation efficiency and the resident experience.

- Customer-service oriented and able to balance safety requirements with resident independence and hospitality.
- Organized and capable of developing procedures, checklists, training programs, and processes.
- Comfortable using technology and learning security and operational systems.
- Able to investigate incidents and follow issues through to resolution.
- Proactive about identifying risks before they become problems.
- Able to work collaboratively with Facilities, Resident Services, Dining, Transportation, and other departments.
Experience & Qualifications
- Previous management or supervisory experience in security, safety, emergency preparedness, facilities, healthcare, senior living, hospitality, military, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
- Experience managing employees across multiple shifts preferred.
- Experience with security systems, access control, incident reporting, emergency preparedness, or life-safety programs preferred.
- Strong computer and technology skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally with residents, families, employees, vendors, and emergency responders.
- Ability to maintain confidential information and exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to work various shifts and respond to situations outside of normal business hours as needed.
Physical & Working Requirements
This is an active, hands-on management position.
The role requires frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling, including the ability to handle loads of 50+ pounds when required.
The position may require working outdoors in varying weather conditions and responding to situations that require protective equipment or heightened attention to personal and community safety.
The position may require flexibility to work different shifts, evenings, weekends, holidays, or respond to emergencies as operational needs dictate.
