This position is located in Plymouth, WI

Job Summary:

Diagnose, repair, and maintain specialty vehicles and trucks including but not limited to work on electrical systems, diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, brakes, drivetrains, etc. Also responsible for small repairs on engine attachments, body leaks/repairs, parts ordering, documentation, and record keeping, reviewing DVIR's, completing recalls, moving units as necessary, general assistance and training. This position requires the employee to understand service department standards including technician efficiency and productivity.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Ability to diagnose and repair all systems in buses and other assets.
  2. The technician will be in an environment with other people doing similar work and must be able to work well in that environment.
  3. This position will be required to understand the performance of maintenance and repairs on gas- and diesel-powered vehicles as well as all other systems and components found within the vehicle.
  4. Technicians are responsible for maintaining standards in cleanliness in their jobs as well as ongoing cleanliness in their workstations.
  5. Technicians must be able to request parts needed to complete repairs including the ability to read technical drawings and understand parts catalogs.
  6. This position requires the ability to effectively communicate with other techs, supervisors, managers and potentially customers.
  7. Technicians will be accountable for maintaining efficiency, productivity and effective labor rate standards as set forth by their supervisor.
  8. This position requires the ability to learn new products and methods as well as the potential ability to teach learned skills and abilities to lower level technicians.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned by leadership.

Experience and skill requirements:

  • Two years work related experience.
  • Class A or B CDL, OR the ability to obtain.
  • Endorsements: Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) or as Required.
  • Ability to pass medical examination.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to maintain confidentiality, be open to innovative ideas, and work successfully both on an independent basis and on a team. Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with a wide range of management styles within the Company and build community relationships.
  • Oral Communication: Ability to organize thoughts and speak persuasively in positive or negative situations, demonstrate group presentation skills, and conduct effective meetings.
  • Written Communication: Strong writing skills using good spelling, punctuation, grammar; detail-oriented in editing written documents; ability to present numerical and statistical data effectively; and ability to accurately interpret and communicate written information.
  • Planning and Organizing: Ability to prioritize and plan work activities to ensure the timely completion of projects and development of realistic action plans.
  • Quality: Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness and monitor own work to ensure quality.
  • Adaptability: Able to quickly adapt and respond to a rapidly changing work environment and manage competing demands in a productive manner.
  • Dependability: Demonstrated ability to consistently be at work and on time as scheduled, follow instructions, respond to management direction, and solicit feedback to improve performance.
  • Should be honest, assertive, and systematic.
  • Know proper teaching techniques, demonstrate good human relations and communication skills; able to recognize something that is wrong or incomplete, and knowing how to apply logic as well common sense when addressing situations.
