Job Description

Duration: 4 years Salary: £27,400 Location: Manchester

Start: September 2027 Qualification: Level 6 Digital & Technology Solutions Professional Degree Apprenticeship with Manchester Metropolitan University

Your tech future starts here At Lloyds Banking Group, tech isn’t just part of the business. It is the business. With £3bn a year going into AI, cloud and engineering, we’re busy reinventing how 23 million customers manage their money.

As a Digital & Technology Solutions Degree Apprentice, you’ll dive into coding, problem-solving and building digital products people use every day. Forget tea runs. Think real projects, real customers, real impact.

Four years. Big learning. Real projects

This apprenticeship is a deep dive into software engineering. You’ll study at Manchester Met and apply your learning directly to projects at Lloyds.

You’ll cover modules like:

  • Programming fundamentals & databases
  • IT project management & cyber security
  • Full stack web development
  • Software design, architecture & enterprise programming
  • Testing, quality assurance & professional practice

By the end, you’ll graduate with a degree-level qualification and four years of hands-on experience.

The impact you could make

  • Build and test apps used by millions
  • Develop secure systems that keep customers safe
  • Solve big problems in payments, platforms and more
  • Learn to deliver tech the right way - ethical, scalable, inclusive

Your skills toolkit

You’ll master:

  • Python, Java and other core languages
  • Databases, networks and security
  • Full stack web development
  • Agile teamwork and modern software practices

Support in your corner

  • Blended learning - classroom + real projects
  • Time carved out for your development
  • A mentor, a manager and a buddy to back you
  • A community of techies who get as excited about clean code as you do

Your future. Fully funded

We’ll pay your salary and fully fund your degree, so by the end of the programme, you’ll have completed a level 6 apprenticeship in Digital & Technology Solutions. You’ll also gain four years of experience working on one of the UK’s largest tech transformations, equipping you with skills that can take you anywhere in the industry—from specialist engineering roles to future tech leadership positions.

Requirements

What you’ll need

  • You’ll need to be at least 18 years old on 1st September 2027
  • GCSEs grades 4-9 in both English and Maths (Achieved)
  • You’ll need a minimum of 104 UCAS points (These grades can be predicted, but any offer made to you will be conditional upon successful achievement of these qualifications)

Important information

An additional requirement for the apprenticeship position is that you must currently possess a valid Right to Work in the UK. Your visa end date must extend beyond the duration of the apprenticeship programme, which will last up to four years.

Due to Home Office requirements regarding Skilled Workers, we’re unable to accept applications for visa sponsorship for our apprenticeship roles as the proposed salary for the role does not meet the minimum threshold – if this situation applies to you, please consider looking for other vacancies which may be more suitable.

Location

This apprenticeship is based in Manchester, and you will be expected to work from the Manchester office throughout the programme. While our hybrid working policy requires office attendance at least two days per week (40% for full-time colleagues), apprentices are expected to be in the office most days during the initial settling-in period.

If your commute exceeds 1.5 hours, we strongly recommend relocating closer to the office to ensure consistent attendance in line with contractual and hybrid working expectations.

About working for us Our ambition is to be the leading UK business for diversity, equity and inclusion supporting our customers, colleagues and communities and we’re committed to creating an environment in which everyone can thrive, learn and develop.

We were one of the first major organisations to set goals on diversity in senior roles, create a menopause health package, and a dedicated Working with Cancer Initiative.

We offer reasonable workplace adjustments for colleagues with disabilities, including flexibility in office attendance, location and working patterns. And, as a Disability Confident Leader, we guarantee interviews for a fair and proportionate number of applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the role with a disability, long-term health or neurodivergent condition through the Disability Confident Scheme.

We provide reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process to reduce or remove barriers. Just let us know what you need.

Salary

You will join us on a fixed apprenticeship salary. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will be re-graded, with your pay range consistent with the job family for your business area.

We also offer a wide-ranging benefits package, which includes:

  • A generous pension contribution of up to 15%
  • An annual performance-related bonus
  • Share schemes including free shares
  • Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping
  • 22 days’ holiday, with bank holidays on top
  • A range of wellbeing initiatives and generous parental leave policies

The closing date to apply for this opportunity is 15th December 2026

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
