Join the Future of EdTech with Learnosity

Do you want to build products that bring cutting-edge AI to millions of learners, have a direct impact on how people learn, and see the results of your work in real-world use?

At Learnosity, we believe the next chapter of education technology will not be defined by hype, but by teams who can turn complex ideas into reliable, high-impact products. AI is a big part of that evolution, alongside strong fundamentals in engineering, learning science, and product thinking.

We are looking for Engineers who are curious, pragmatic, and motivated by impact. People who want to solve meaningful problems and build products that work in real-world learning environments.

About Us

Learnosity is a global leader in assessment and learning technology. Our solutions power the creation, delivery, and analysis of digital assessments used by leading education providers, publishers, businesses and EdTech companies worldwide, reaching millions of learners every year.

Our products underpin high-stakes assessments and learning experiences, giving us a unique opportunity to shape how learning is measured and understood at scale.

Upskill is our new, AI-first infrastructure, specifically engineered to meet the evolving demands of corporate learning and compliance in high-stakes environments.

The current challenge in enterprise assessments is a fragmented and clumsy experience. Upskill solves this by moving beyond isolated AI features to deliver a seamless, end-to-end platform that integrates directly into native Learning Management Systems (LMS) like Workday and Cornerstone. Built with AI at its core, Upskill will automate content authoring, provide real-time multimodal scoring (e.g., for video and audio), and feature a consumer-grade user interface.

We are currently in the foundational 'zero-to-one' phase, having already validated the market demand. We are building a brand-new team in Dublin to execute this vision. This is a unique opportunity for career-defining work, offering the autonomy of a startup combined with the proven backing and global reach of a market leader.

Why Join Us?

Build from Zero to One: Join us at the most exciting stage of our journey: the very beginning. As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll help build a new product by designing, developing, and delivering high-quality software as part of a collaborative engineering team

Visibility & Influence: Operate in an environment where there’s minimal distance between ideas and decision-making, with direct access to senior leadership and the ability to shape meaningful outcomes.

Pragmatic Innovation: Help shape how AI and other new technologies are applied where they deliver genuine value.

Build & Scale: Help shape new products while leveraging the platform, customers, and reach of an established global business.

Real Impact: Build systems and products that directly influence how millions of learners are assessed and supported worldwide.

Ownership & Collaboration: Take responsibility for your work while collaborating with experienced, thoughtful teammates across engineering, product, and design.

Growth & Development: Develop your career in an environment that values continuous learning, leadership and long-term growth.

If you’re motivated by building meaningful products at scale, and want to improve how people learn worldwide, we’d love to hear from you.

Job Description

We’re looking for Staff Software Engineers to join our team and help bring our new Upskill product roadmap to fruition. If you:

  • Are passionate about using technology to have a massive impact in Education, and are excited about using AI to accelerate that mission.
  • Are eager to work with stakeholders across the business, from our CEO to key stakeholders in our product organization, to get things done
  • Know how to build and architect software to get from zero to released
  • Have a keen eye for how to prove out complex functionality with real data, and how to tweak and tune to get the best results
  • Are always eager to roll up your sleeves and dig in at all stages of the software and product lifecycle - from high level ideation, to working through user stories with the teams to get the product into the hands of users
  • Understand the flexibility needed to release product in the fastest-changing technology landscape that we’ve ever seen before

Then we’d love to talk with you!

Requirements

Core Goals and Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, modify, and support the development of software for Learnosity’s Upskill product
  • This is a hands-on role. You’ll write production Python every day, and you’ll take on the highest-risk and most ambiguous parts of Upskill, taking them from zero to released.
  • Diagnose complex issues across the stack and ship permanent fixes rather than workarounds.
  • Support and enable three Engineering pods to ensure architectural best practices
  • Act as a technical sounding board to the VP of Engineering and Engineering Team Leads
  • Contribute to task planning, estimation, and scheduling, working closely with other teams and management to deliver projects from inception to completion, and ensure documentation is kept up to date.
  • Work closely with multiple engineering pods to assist with consistent architectural and development practices
  • Determine root cause for complex software issues and develop practical, efficient, and permanent technical solutions.

Experience and Skills

Must haves:

  • Strong understanding and experience with agile frameworks and practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • 10+ years working with Python
  • Experience with various database technologies (relational, nosql, document-oriented, etc) and query concepts in high performance environments
  • Experience setting up or configuring CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows.
  • Great knowledge of design patterns and back end architecture best practices
  • Strong code review skills
  • Experience mentoring junior developers

It would be great if you had:

  • A B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a similar discipline.
  • Experience with Spec Driven Development
  • Experience with Terraform and Kubernetes, along with a solid grasp of cloud-native best practices
  • Experience with Typescript and front end technologies
  • Hands-on experience with at least one of the following: leading a migration off a legacy system, building a product or service from scratch and taking it through to production, or scaling an application to meet significant growth in demand.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
