The posting

Ledgebrook is an AI-native specialty insurance platform. When a business needs coverage that is custom and complex, its broker comes to us, and our underwriters give them an answer, often in hours rather than weeks.

We built our technology from scratch, with AI in it from the first line of code. The technology helps price the risk; the underwriter uses their judgment to decide. There are always two hands on the wheel.

We are insurance industry insiders, and we eat our own cooking: Ledgebrook writes the policy and shares the risk through our own carrier, Ledgebrook Specialty, rated A- (Excellent) by AM Best. We work exclusively through wholesale brokers.

Our vision: to make the wheels of insurance spin faster.

At Ledgebrook, everything we do is driven by our culture: Care, Strive, Thrive Together. To succeed in modernizing the industry, we must first succeed in changing the way we do business. Talent density is our north star—fewer, better people working together as one. To that end we’ve replaced all individual incentives with generous equity packages—we play as a team, we win as a team. Everyone benefits handsomely from Ledgebrook’s success.

We are seeking an Underwriting Support Team Leader to join our growing operations team and play a critical role in leading and developing the team responsible for providing superior support to the Underwriting and Operations Units.

As the Underwriting Support Team Leader, you will manage a growing team of Underwriting Support Analysts, ensuring high-quality and timely execution of underwriting support activities across Ledgebrook products. You will work closely with Underwriters and other stakeholders to ensure submissions move efficiently through the underwriting process, while continuously looking for opportunities to improve workflows, quality, and service.

This is an exciting opportunity to combine your insurance expertise with people leadership, operational excellence, and strong customer focus. With the team's and company's growth, the role will offer significant opportunity to shape how the Underwriting Support function operates and develops over time.

Ledgebrook prides itself on its open and transparent culture, which will give you great exposure to different teams and stakeholders across the company.

Since Ledgebrook recently entered the Polish market, you will play an integral role in building and developing the local Underwriting Support team and contributing to the company's long-term success.

About the Role

As a future Ledgebrook Underwriting Support Team Leader, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, coaching, and developing a growing team of Underwriting Support Analysts.
  • Managing day-to-day team operations, workload distribution, priorities, and performance to ensure key underwriting support activities are completed accurately and on time.
  • Holding regular check-ins, providing constructive feedback, and supporting team members in developing their insurance knowledge and professional skills.
  • Supporting recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of new team members as the function continues to grow.
  • Overseeing underwriting support activities across the submission lifecycle, including submission review, account clearance and set-up, data entry, documentation, endorsements, renewals, and other pre- and post-bind activities.
  • Ensuring submission triage activities are performed effectively and in line with underwriting appetite, guidelines, and delegated underwriting authorities.
  • Ensuring required information is obtained from brokers and that documentation and underwriting files are complete, accurate, and properly maintained.
  • Partnering closely with Underwriters and Operations teams to identify priorities, resolve issues, and keep business moving efficiently.
  • Monitoring the quality and accuracy of the team's work and ensuring adherence to internal procedures, compliance requirements, and service standards.
  • Identifying opportunities to simplify, improve, and scale underwriting support processes and workflows.
  • Supporting the implementation and adoption of new processes, tools, and technologies within the team.
  • Providing feedback to Product, Technology, Operations, and other stakeholders on opportunities to improve systems and workflows.
  • Building a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture focused on ownership, quality, continuous improvement, and excellent customer service.

About you

Here at Ledgebrook, we are passionate about creating a team that is on a continuous learning journey and that shares our excitement about building a company from the ground up. Some of the characteristics we hold dear are:

  • A passion to deliver a world-class customer service experience to both internal and external customers.
  • A leadership style focused on supporting, developing, and enabling others to succeed.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a desire to innovate processes and procedures rather than being satisfied with the status quo.
  • A continuous improvement mindset and the ability to identify simpler, more effective ways of working.
  • Agile prioritisation skills coupled with a keen sense of urgency that seeks to balance getting it right versus getting it done right now.
  • Strong ownership and accountability, with the ability to follow through and ensure commitments are delivered.
  • A collaborative and adaptable approach, with the ability to operate effectively in a growing and changing environment.
  • A strong drive and desire to win together as a high-performing team.
  • A moral compass to “do the right thing, period”, with zero tolerance for toxic behaviours.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
