Crew | Legendary Eats (Potbelly Sandwich Shop)

Location: New Hyde Park, NY | Reports to: Shift Lead and General Manager | Hourly, non-exempt

Pay: $17.50 to $18.25 per hour

Who We Are

Legendary Eats is a locally owned company building Potbelly Sandwich Shops across Long Island and Queens. We're opening our first shop in New Hyde Park and growing from there. We pay above market because we believe great shops are built by great people, and we promote from within as we grow.

The Role

You're the reason guests come back. You build every sandwich the Potbelly way, keep the shop clean and stocked, and take care of the guest in front of you. No experience needed. We'll teach you every station.

What You Own on Every Shift

Making Great Food

  • Build sandwiches, salads, soups, shakes, and cookies to Potbelly recipe standards
  • Work every station: load, dress, shakes, cash, prep, and front
  • Prep meats and cheeses (slicer use is 18+ only)
  • Restock the line, chips, and cooler before anyone has to ask

Taking Care of Guests

  • Greet guests and talk with them while they're in line
  • Move with urgency when the line is out the door
  • Take phone, pickup, and catering orders accurately
  • Fix a guest issue on the spot, and grab your Shift Lead when you need backup

Keeping It Clean and Safe

  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and allergen procedures every shift
  • Keep tables, counters, floors, restrooms, and the kitchen clean
  • Wear a clean uniform and follow hygiene standards
  • Handle cash accurately and follow drawer procedures exactly

Where This Goes

Crew who master every station and help teach others become Certified Trainers, then Shift Leads. We're building toward 15 shops, and we look inside first when we promote.

What You Bring

Required

  • At least 16 years old (18+ to operate the slicer)
  • Availability that includes some weekends
  • English communication skills sufficient to follow procedures and talk with guests
  • Comfortable using a knife safely (we'll train you)

Physical Requirements

  • Stand and walk for most of your shift
  • Lift up to 10 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Bend, reach, carry, and use a POS and tablet
  • Work in a fast, loud kitchen with temperature swings
  • Work around common allergens, including peanuts, eggs, dairy, gluten, soy, fish, and shellfish
