The posting

The Leidos Fed Civ IT NISC IV team is looking for a skilled Hardware Engineer to support engineering, integration, and sustainment of critical systems supporting Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) programs.

The Hardware Engineer will provide the Long-Range Radar System Support team support with designing, developing, testing, and maintaining hardware systems and components to ensure performance, reliability, and compliance with operational requirements. You will also be involved in system integration efforts, troubleshooting hardware-related issues, and working with cross-functional teams to support system design, validation, and deployment activities.

This position in onsite at MMAC in Oklahoma City, OK.

To be successful in this role, you will need strong knowledge of hardware engineering principles, system integration, and lifecycle management, along with the ability to work across multiple technical domains.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and support hardware systems and components--including circuit boards, processors, and embedded systems—to keep ARSR-4 and CARSR long-range radar systems fully operational.
  • Perform hardware integration, testing, and validation to ensure systems meet performance and reliability requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues across development, test, and production environments.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, system engineers, and documentation teams to seamlessly integrate hardware solutions, driving the design, testing, and deployment of modifications for obsolescence, compliance, and threat mitigation.
  • Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and documentation for system validation and verification.
  • Analyze system requirements and translate them into hardware specifications and design solutions.
  • Support configuration management, system upgrades, and lifecycle sustainment activities.
  • Provide technical input to system architecture, design reviews, and engineering discussions.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable FAA, industry, and safety standards.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including design documents, test reports, and user guides.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Hardware Engineering or a related technical field and 4+ years of prior relevant experience. Additional years of experience or education may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience designing, integrating, and testing hardware systems or components.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware and system-level issues and performing root cause analysis.
  • Working knowledge of embedded systems, circuit design, or related hardware components.
  • Experience developing and executing test procedures and validating system performance.
  • Ability to interpret technical requirements and translate them into effective engineering solutions.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, multi-disciplined engineering environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation and supporting configuration management processes.
  • Understanding of the hardware development lifecycle, including design, integration, testing, and sustainment.
  • Ability to obtain & maintain public trust suitability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience supporting FAA or other federal government programs.
  • Experience with systems integration in operational or mission-critical environments.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (IEEE, IPC, MIL-STD, etc.).
  • Experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and signal generators.
  • Experience working in Agile or hybrid engineering environments.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity considerations for hardware systems.
  • Experience supporting fielded systems, sustainment, or modernization efforts.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
