The posting

Help power the cloud-based data platforms that enable Intelligence Community analysts and data scientists around the world to turn complex information into actionable intelligence supporting critical national security missions.

Leidos is seeking an innovative, mission-driven Senior DevSecOps Engineer to support the Chinook Program serving our Intelligence Community (IC) customer. In this role, you'll help ensure that more than 400 analysts, engineers, and data scientists worldwide have reliable, secure access to the cloud-based tools and computing resources they depend on to process data, develop analytical solutions, and support mission-critical decisions.

This is an exciting opportunity to combine your Bash or Python scripting expertise with cloud platform administration, automation, and DevSecOps engineering. You'll support multiple Amazon Web Services (AWS) Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) environments hosting Databricks and/or Syntasa platforms, helping configure and maintain user access, compute resources, clusters, and critical cloud infrastructure. Your contributions will directly improve platform reliability, streamline administrative operations, strengthen security, and accelerate the delivery of data-driven capabilities to mission users.

You don't need to be a Databricks or Syntasa expert on day one. We're looking for an adaptable, technically curious engineer with strong scripting skills, experience administering commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications, and a passion for solving complex challenges. You'll receive hands-on, on-the-job training (OJT) to develop specialized expertise in these platforms while contributing to meaningful engineering and automation initiatives.

If you thrive on solving technical challenges, enjoy automating repetitive tasks, and want your engineering expertise to support intelligence professionals across the globe, this is your opportunity to make an impact where it matters most.

Clearance Level Required:

Active Top Secret/SCI with the ability to successfully pass a Polygraph examination.

Primary Responsibilities:

Cloud Platform Administration & Configuration Management

· Administer, configure, and maintain Databricks and/or Syntasa platforms across multiple AWS Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) deployments supporting 400+ users and data scientists worldwide.

· Manage platform resources, including users, workgroups, compute pools, clusters, permissions, and JSON configurations, ensuring proper documentation and configuration control.

· Configure and maintain AWS resources, including S3 buckets, IAM roles and policies, and associated cloud infrastructure.

· Troubleshoot platform, user access, and resource issues while maintaining configuration baselines, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and system documentation.

Scripting, Automation & DevSecOps

· Develop and maintain Bash and/or Python scripts to automate platform administration, configuration management, operational reporting, and repetitive tasks.

· Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve administrative efficiency, platform reliability, and service delivery.

· Develop tools for service metrics collection, resource utilization monitoring, and performance reporting to support operational visibility and continuous improvement.

· Apply DevSecOps best practices, secure configuration management, version control, and change control processes across cloud environments.

Agile Delivery & Customer Support

· Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to prioritize enhancements, resolve technical issues, and support continuous platform improvements.

· Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily standups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

· Provide technical support to a globally distributed community of 400+ users and data scientists, coordinating with customer stakeholders to address operational needs.

· Leverage on-the-job training (OJT) to develop specialized expertise in Databricks, Syntasa, AWS services, and customer-specific administration processes.

Basic Qualifications:

· US citizenship is required per contract.

· Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and 8-12 years of prior relevant experience or Master’s with 6-10 years of prior relevant experience.

· Hands-on experience with the following technologies:

o Web: HTML, CSS, and REST APIs

o Object-oriented Programming: Python (Pandas, Boto3, PySpark, MLOps), Java, C++, or similar language

o Databases: Amazon RDS

o Operating System: Linux

o Version Control System: Git

· Demonstrated hands-on experience developing and maintaining Bash and/or Python scripts for automation, system administration, reporting, or operational support.

· Experience administering, configuring, maintaining, or troubleshooting Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) applications or enterprise software platforms.

· Experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS), including familiarity with S3, IAM policies, and Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) environments.

· Working knowledge of cloud resource administration, user provisioning, access controls, permissions management, and configuration management.

· Experience creating, modifying, and validating JSON configuration files and maintaining technical documentation.

· Experience identifying and implementing automation solutions to streamline administrative tasks, improve operational efficiency, or support reporting requirements.

· Familiarity with Linux operating systems, command-line utilities, shell scripting, and troubleshooting systems.

· Experience using version control tools such as Git and following established configuration management and change control processes.

· Understanding of DevSecOps principles, secure system administration, and software or infrastructure lifecycle management.

· Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver technical solutions.

· Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate complex platform and configuration issues.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop technical documentation and collaborate with geographically distributed users and customer stakeholders.

· Ability and willingness to learn Databricks and/or Syntasa administration through structured on-the-job training.

· Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and provide reliable support in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment.

· Must have or willing to obtain within 6 months Security+ CE or higher DoD 8570/8140 certification, required for privileged user (admin) access.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience supporting cloud-based applications or enterprise platforms within the IC or Department of Defense (DoD).

· Hands-on experience administering Databricks, including workspace management, user and group permissions, compute pools, clusters, and platform configurations.

· Experience administering Syntasa or comparable enterprise data analytics and data science platforms.

· Experience supporting multiple AWS VPC environments, isolated cloud deployments, or multi-environment platform architectures.

· Experience configuring and maintaining AWS IAM roles and policies, S3 bucket permissions, and secure cloud resource access.

· Experience developing Python or Bash automation tools for user provisioning, configuration updates, resource management, or operational reporting.

· Familiarity with Databricks REST APIs, CLI tools, and JSON-based configuration management.

· Experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting service metrics, system health indicators, resource utilization, and operational performance.

· Experience using AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, or comparable monitoring and logging solutions.

· Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Ansible.

· Experience supporting Linux-based systems and troubleshooting cloud-hosted applications.

· Experience with GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and configuration management workflows.

· Understanding of cloud security principles, least-privilege access, audit logging, and secure configuration practices.

· Experience supporting large, geographically distributed user communities, particularly data scientists, analysts, or technical researchers.

· Experience developing SOPs, configuration baselines, operational dashboards, and technical support documentation.

· Familiarity with Agile delivery tools such as Jira and collaboration within customer-controlled technical environments.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
