Undercoat Technician / Body Shop Assistant

Lenz Truck Center

Lenz Truck Center is looking for a dependable, hardworking individual to join our team as an Undercoat Technician / Body Shop Assistant. This position will primarily focus on applying rustproofing and corrosion protection products to vehicles while also assisting our Body Shop team with a variety of tasks.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, pays attention to detail, works efficiently, and is willing to learn. Automotive experience is helpful but not required. We are willing to train the right person.

Responsibilities

Undercoating & Rustproofing

  • Apply rustproofing, undercoating, and corrosion protection products to trucks, SUVs, and other vehicles.
  • Properly prepare vehicles and surfaces prior to application.
  • Follow product application procedures and company standards.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure proper coverage and quality.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Properly clean and maintain application equipment and tools.
  • Follow all safety procedures when working with chemicals, equipment, and vehicles.

Body Shop Assistance

  • Assist Body Shop technicians with general shop tasks.
  • Help with vehicle disassembly and reassembly as directed.
  • Move and position vehicles throughout the shop.
  • Assist with parts removal, organization, and installation.
  • Help with cleaning, preparation, sanding, masking, and other body shop tasks as needed.
  • Keep work areas, vehicles, tools, and equipment clean and organized.
  • Perform other duties to support the Body Shop and dealership as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • Dependable and reliable work ethic.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and follow established procedures.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Comfortable working around vehicles, tools, and shop equipment.
  • Automotive or body shop experience is a plus, but we will train the right person.
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work underneath vehicles for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move parts, tools, and equipment.
  • Ability to work in a shop environment and perform physical tasks throughout the workday.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools and shop equipment after proper training.
