Inmiddels zijn we gegroeid tot hét grootste onderwijsplatform in Nederland voor docenten en zijn we marktleider in het voortgezet onderwijs en mbo. Meer dan 100.000 docenten wereldwijd maken en geven dagelijks les met LessonUp. Onze ambitie is om 1 miljoen docenten wereldwijd te ondersteunen en daarmee een positieve impact te maken op het onderwijs.

Over de rol

We zijn op zoek naar een Senior Platform Automation Engineer die de leiding neemt over ons cloudplatform en de ontwikkelsnelheid van ons engineering team naar een hoger niveau tilt. In deze rol ligt het zwaartepunt op infrastructuur, DevOps en platform engineering.

Je pakt een dubbele missie aan: het beheren en doorontwikkelen van onze core GCP-productie-infrastructuur (waaronder het aanpakken van tech debt, het beheren van cloud resources en het waarborgen van de betrouwbaarheid van de productieomgeving), én het radicaal verkorten van de tijd tussen het schrijven van code door een developer en het weten of het werkt.

Je bent niet dagelijks bezig met het schrijven van QA-tests; onze developers en QA-engineers beheren de testsuites zelf. Jouw focus ligt juist op platform enablement. Jij bouwt, schaalt en onderhoudt de onderliggende cloudinfrastructuur, CI/CD-pipelines en tijdelijke omgevingen per Pull Request (ephemeral environments). Hiermee zorg je dat die tests vlekkeloos kunnen draaien en stel je het team in staat om op hoge snelheid betrouwbare code naar productie te deployen.

Wat je gaat doen

  • Ownership over de productie-infrastructuur & GCP Roadmap: Neem de regie over onze GCP-omgeving. Pak openstaande tech debt aan, optimaliseer de inzet van cloud resources en zorg dat de productiesystemen veilig, performant, kostenefficiënt en schaalbaar zijn ingericht.
  • Tijdelijke omgevingen per PR faciliteren: Ontwerp en beheer ephemeral environments waarmee engineers voor elke pull request een volledig werkende instantie van onze app kunnen opstarten. Dit maakt testen en QA-reviews snel, geïsoleerd en moeiteloos.
  • E2E-tests frequent en betrouwbaar laten draaien: Beheer de werking en uitvoering van onze testframeworks (Playwright, Jest, Cucumber) binnen CI. Focus op het koppelen van tests aan tijdelijke omgevingen, het optimaliseren van parallellisatie en het meedogenloos verminderen van flakiness, zodat developers directe en betrouwbare feedback krijgen.
  • CI/CD & Developer Workflows optimaliseren: Stroomlijn build-, test- en deployment-pipelines om wachttijden voor developers te minimaliseren en robuuste release-mechanismen op te zetten.
  • Het Engineeringteam versterken: Bied de API’s, data-preparatie tools en CI/CD-integraties die developers en QA nodig hebben om naadloos hun eigen testsuites te kunnen schrijven, onderhouden en vertrouwen.

Iets meer over jou

  • Woonachtig in Nederland (volledig remote werken vanuit het buitenland of relocatie is niet mogelijk).
  • Ervaring: 8+ jaar ervaring hoofdzakelijk gericht op een rol als Platform Engineer, DevOps Engineer of SRE, met een sterk trackrecord in het opzetten van developer tooling, CI/CD-pipelines en het beheren van cloudinfrastructuur in productie.
  • Cloud & Infrastructuur: Uitstekende vaardigheid met GCP (Google Cloud Platform) en Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC). Ervaring met Terraform is een pré. Je weet hoe je schaalbare productieomgevingen bouwt, beveiligt en onderhoudt.
  • Testinfrastructuur Operations: Ervaring met het laten draaien en schalen van E2E-testframeworks (zoals Playwright en Jest) binnen CI-pipelines. Je hoeft geen diepgaande testschrijver te zijn; we zoeken jouw expertise in pipeline-koppelingen, test-parallellisatie en het reduceren van foute testuitslagen (flakes). Bekendheid met Cucumber (BDD) en Storybook is een pré.
  • API & Data Savvy: Comfortabel in het werken met GraphQL API’s en MongoDB databases.
  • Senior Ownership: In staat om autonoom te werken, de betrouwbaarheid van de productie-infrastructuur te balanceren met interne developer tools, en te fungeren als een echte platform-enabler voor het bredere engineering team.
  • Minimaal 2 jaar ervaring in een senior rol.
  • Zelfstandig en autonoom kunnen werken.
  • Je bent een datagedreven en pragmatische besluitvormer.
  • Je bent open-minded, vriendelijk, nieuwsgierig en proactief.
