The posting

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic and committed Teacher of Physical Education to join our successful PE faculty from Easter or September 2027, however an earlier start date can be accommodated. This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding practitioner to inspire young people through sport and physical activity while contributing to the continued success of a thriving and ambitious school.

Applications are welcomed from both Early Career Teachers and experienced teachers. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about PE, committed to raising achievement and able to engage students of all abilities both within the curriculum and through a rich programme of extracurricular sport.

Physical Education is a highly valued subject at Leventhorpe, delivered across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 as part of the core curriculum. The department enjoys strong uptake at examination level, with students studying GCSE PE and BTEC Level 3 Sport and Exercise Science. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to a wide-ranging extracurricular programme, developing sporting excellence and fostering a lifelong enjoyment of physical activity.

As an oversubscribed Business and Enterprise Academy, Leventhorpe also serves as the lead school for Initial Teacher Training (ITT) within the Bishop's Stortford Educational Trust (BSET), providing exciting opportunities for professional collaboration and leadership development.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be passionate about Physical Education and promoting the benefits of sport and physical activity
  • Be an innovative and reflective practitioner with high expectations of all students
  • Deliver engaging and challenging lessons that inspire students to achieve their very best
  • Lead by example and serve as a positive role model for students
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Thrive as part of a collaborative and supportive team
  • Contribute enthusiastically to the wider life of the school, including extracurricular activities and competitive sport

In return Leventhorpe can provide:

  • Excellent facilities: To accommodate our expanding roll, Leventhorpe has completed an extensive multi-million-pound capital build programme, including a new Science and Sixth Form block and a state-of-the-art Performing Arts and English block. Previous investment included a sports complex which features a sports hall, fitness suite, dance studio, 3G all-weather pitch and floodlit tennis courts
  • A positive working environment in a heavily oversubscribed school with an excellent academic record and high standards. We place strong emphasis on student learning and achievement
  • First rate personal career development with high local and regional profile through our work with the Bishop’s Stortford Educational Trust (BSET)
  • Exceptionally dedicated colleagues and enthusiastic students
  • Priority admission for children of staff after a qualifying period

We welcome applications from both Early Careers Teachers and experienced teachers.

Closing date for applications is 10.00am Monday 16th November 2026.

Interviews will take place on Thursday 19th November 2026.

Leventhorpe is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to apply for an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). For further guidance please refer to the Policies and Documents section of our MyNewTerm profile. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
