About the Role:

Virgin Media Television is seeking a Broadcast Operations Assistant to join our Broadcast Operations team. The successful candidate will work as part of a team bringing some of Virgin Media Television’s flagship programming to air. They will get to experience working in a fast-paced studio environment and be provided with excellent opportunities to learn and develop skills across the full range of studio operations.

The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the television process, be technically minded and able to troubleshoot problems should they arise. The Broadcast Operations Assistant will be expected to perform tasks including but not limited to autocue operation, studio floor assistance, set preparation and de-rigging.

Specific Tasks and Duties:

  • Work across VMTV studio programmes & events
  • Autocue operation
  • Fulfilling general studio duties
  • Assist with any studio set-up requirements that may be required
  • Work with the Director and wider studio team to ensure that deadlines are met and programmes flow smoothly
  • Assisting the Central Services team with fulfilment of tasks

Skills & Expertise:

  • A good understanding of the workings of a studio environment
  • Excellent computer and keyboard skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience working on a variety of studio shows including News, Sports, Current Affairs and Entertainment
  • Experience of iNews would be an advantage

The Person:

  • First-class problem-solving skills who gets to the heart of the matter
  • Have a passion and curiosity for the television production process
  • The ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with the business while ascertaining the key impact/detail behind the issue/request
  • A ‘team player’ and someone who can work on their own initiative
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and embrace change
  • Can act calmly under pressure
  • Flexible approach to shift work
