About the job

As Senior Distinguished Scientist within our Translational In Vivo Models (TIM) team, you'll lead our global Transgenic Model & Technology function and drive innovation in genome engineering to accelerate drug discovery across all therapeutic divisions. Ready to get started?

Join the engine of Sanofi's mission where deep immunoscience meets bold, AI-powered research. In R&D, you'll drive breakthroughs that could turn the impossible into possible for millions.

About Sanofi:

The Translational In Vivo Models (TIM) department within Sanofi's R&D is seeking an exceptional Senior Distinguished Scientist to lead our Transgenic Model & Technology (TMT) function globally. This strategic leadership role will drive innovation in genome engineering and genetically modified model development to accelerate drug discovery across all therapeutic divisions.

As the global head of Transgenic Biology, you will ensure our organization remains at the forefront of technical developments in genome engineering, enabling breakthrough discoveries in immunology, immuno-inflammation, rare diseases, neuroscience, and oncology. You will serve as a key scientific advisor and strategic thinker, shaping the direction of in vivo and preclinical research programs while championing the integration of emerging technologies, including AI and digital platforms — into transgenic science.

Main responsibilities

  • Lead and advance state-of-the-art genome engineering and CRISPR-based strategies for in vivo model development, covering immunology, rare diseases, neuroscience, and oncology.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement new technologies and innovations in transgenesis, CRISPR/Cas systems, and emerging genome engineering platforms.
  • Champion AI and digital integration to enhance model design, data analysis, and predictive capabilities in transgenic research.
  • Serve as strategic scientific advisor to research projects across therapeutic areas, providing expert guidance on in vivo and preclinical study design.
  • Align transgenic capabilities with organizational research priorities and long-term scientific goals through strategic planning and cross-functional leadership.
  • Lead transversal teams and projects across multiple therapeutic divisions, sites, and external partners, collaborating with program leaders, cluster heads, and department heads.
  • Drive budget planning, forecasting, and financial management to optimize resource allocation and operational efficiency.
  • Build and manage strategic partnerships with model providers, CROs, and academic partners, including negotiation of license agreements and contracts.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of scientific excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.

What we offer you:

A fixed salary over 12 months, supplemented by a short-term incentive, as well as a collective variable compensation based on Sanofi Group results.

Because taking care of our employees is also our mission: 31 days of paid leave + RTT depending on your status, remote work up to 2 days/week, quality health insurance, public transport coverage up to 80%, extended maternity/parental leave (18/14 weeks), Group Savings Plan & PERCOL with employer matching, PERO, numerous CSE benefits, internal and international mobility opportunities, learning & development opportunities, and many other benefits to discover here.

About you

  • Extensive post-doctoral or industry experience in mouse molecular genetics and transgenic animal model development
  • Demonstrated track record of scientific leadership in an academic or pharmaceutical/biotech research environment

Technical skills:

  • Deep expertise in developing transgenic animal models, including engineering diverse genetic alleles using CRISPR/Cas9, Cas12, base editors, prime editors, and other advanced genome engineering systems
  • Comprehensive knowledge of both theoretical principles and practical methodologies required to lead a state-of-the-art transgenic facility
  • Strong foundation in molecular biology, mouse genetics, embryology, and reproductive technologies
  • Experience across multiple therapeutic areas (immunology, oncology, rare diseases, neuroscience preferred)
  • Familiarity with AI and digital technologies in biological research, model design, and data analysis

Soft skills:

  • Proven strategic thinking with ability to align scientific capabilities with business objectives
  • Demonstrated success leading transversal teams across sites and functions
  • Self-motivated with demonstrated ability to lead and thrive in collaborative team environments
  • Comfortable managing competing priorities and adapting to dynamic research needs

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
