Lightedge is evolving its Procurement function to support the organization’s continued growth and scale. We are building a team of strategic procurement category managers and subject matter experts with expertise across the data center lifecycle, including facilities development and build-outs, capital equipment, ongoing facilities support, and technology.

The team will partner with business leaders to strengthen sourcing strategies, supplier relationships, commercial agreements, and purchasing practices that support both expansion and daily operations

The Senior Procurement Manager – Data Center Capital Equipment & Facilities will play a key role in this evolution, with a focus on facilities development, capital equipment, construction services, and ongoing facilities support.

This individual will partner with Development, Engineering, Facilities, Operations, Finance, and Legal to support new data center builds, expansions, facility improvements, and existing operations. Primary responsibilities include sourcing critical electrical and mechanical equipment, negotiating construction and contractor engagements, and managing facilities maintenance agreements, support renewals, and professional services.

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Procurement, this individual will help establish category strategies, supplier programs, and repeatable procurement practices that improve cost, manage risk, strengthen supplier accountability, and support reliable delivery as Lightedge grows.

This is a hands-on, single contributor role requiring strong commercial judgment, knowledge of critical facility infrastructure, and the ability to contribute to a growing strategic procurement team.

Responsibilities

  • Capital Equipment and Construction Procurement
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for data center equipment, including generators, switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, and related mechanical and electrical infrastructure.
  • Partner with technical and project teams to translate approved requirements, budgets, and delivery schedules into sourcing plans and supplier commitments.
  • Lead RFIs, RFPs, competitive bid evaluations, supplier negotiations, and award recommendations.
  • Evaluate total cost of ownership, including acquisition, freight, storage, installation support, commissioning, maintenance, warranties, and spare parts.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment milestones, delivery commitments, escalation provisions, warranties, cancellation and change rights, and other commercial protections in coordination with Legal.
  • Support owner-furnished equipment purchasing, including clear allocation of supplier, contractor, and LightEdge responsibilities.
  • Track supplier commitments and manufacturing milestones with project teams; identify and escalate supply constraints, delivery risks, and commercial issues.
  • Support commercial review of construction proposals, statements of work, and change orders.
  • Develop supplier relationships, purchasing agreements, and opportunities to aggregate demand and standardize equipment across projects.

Facilities Procurement

  • Manage sourcing and commercial negotiations for preventive maintenance, equipment support, repairs, inspections, and facilities service renewals.
  • Source facilities-related professional services, contractors, facility upgrades, small construction projects, and fit-outs.
  • Partner with Facilities to develop clear scopes of work, deliverables, service levels, pricing structures, and acceptance criteria.
  • Maintain visibility into contract expirations, renewal notice requirements, service coverage, and supplier performance.
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate suppliers, improve terms, reduce cost, and strengthen service accountability.

Procurement Practices and Collaboration

  • Establish category plans, sourcing calendars, contract templates, and supplier performance measures in partnership with the Director of Strategic Procurement.
  • Follow and improve Lightedge’s purchasing, approval, vendor onboarding, and contracting processes.
  • Maintain accurate sourcing, contract, savings, and supplier records using designated procurement systems.
  • Provide regular reporting on sourcing activity, financial results, supplier risks, and upcoming commitments.
  • Coordinate purchasing decisions with business owners while Engineering, Development, and Facilities retain responsibility for technical approvals and project execution.

Education And Experience

  • Seven or more years of progressive experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, category management, or related commercial roles.
  • Demonstrated experience sourcing major electrical or mechanical equipment and construction or facilities services for mission-critical or complex industrial environments.
  • Working knowledge of critical power, cooling, and facility infrastructure sufficient to evaluate commercial proposals and collaborate effectively with technical stakeholders.
  • Experience negotiating equipment purchase agreements, maintenance contracts, professional services agreements, and construction statements of work.
  • Understanding of long-lead equipment procurement, supplier capacity, project schedules, lifecycle costs, and commercial risk.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and operate independently within a growing procurement function.
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, engineering, construction management, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience supporting data center development, expansion, or critical facility operations.
  • Experience with owner-furnished equipment and coordination among owners, manufacturers, contractors, and commissioning teams.
  • Experience with facilities maintenance programs, service-level agreements, contractor sourcing, and construction change orders.
  • Familiarity with Coupa, ServiceNow, contract management platforms, and construction project systems.
  • Relevant procurement, supply chain, or project management certification.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
