About At-Bay

At-Bay is the world’s first InsurSec provider designed from the ground up to help businesses tackle cyber risk head on. By combining industry-leading insurance with world-class cybersecurity technology, At-Bay offers end-to-end prevention and protection for the digital age. With 98% of cyber insurance claims in the past five years coming from small and mid-size businesses with revenue under $2B, providing an integrated solution to help manage risk is more critical than ever.

At-Bay helps its 35,000+ customers close their security technology and skills gap — all through their cyber insurance policy — making them less likely to be hit with a ransomware attack. As a full-stack insurance company, At-Bay offers multiple lines of specialty insurance, including Cyber, Tech E&O, and Miscellaneous Professional Liability (MPL) policies.

Role Overview

As an Underwriter / Senior Underwriter, Miscellaneous Professional Liability, you'll play a key role in growing At-Bay's MPL portfolio by underwriting new and renewal business, developing strong broker partnerships, and making sound risk selection and pricing decisions.

You'll own and grow a book of business, evaluating a diverse range of professional liability exposures while balancing growth opportunities with underwriting profitability. Beyond day-to-day underwriting, you'll collaborate with leadership, product, and technology teams to refine our underwriting appetite, improve workflows, and identify opportunities to expand our market presence.

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical underwriting judgment with a commercial mindset. Someone who enjoys building broker relationships, takes ownership of outcomes, and is excited about contributing to a growing business in an entrepreneurial environment.

What You'll Do

Underwriting & Portfolio Management

  • Underwrite new and renewal MPL business, evaluating professional exposures, loss history, financial information, contractual obligations, and other relevant risk characteristics.
  • Assess, select, price, and structure risks in accordance with underwriting guidelines, authority levels, and profitability objectives.
  • Negotiate coverage, pricing, limits, terms, conditions, and endorsements with brokers to deliver competitive solutions while maintaining underwriting discipline.
  • Manage and grow a profitable book of business, balancing new business production, retention, pricing adequacy, and portfolio performance.
  • Monitor portfolio trends, market conditions, and emerging professional liability exposures to identify opportunities and inform underwriting decisions.

Broker Relationships & Business Development

  • Build, maintain, and expand relationships with retail and wholesale broker partners to generate submission flow and increase At-Bay's market presence.
  • Develop and execute territory and broker engagement strategies to drive new business, retention, and sustainable GWP growth.
  • Serve as a trusted underwriting partner to brokers by delivering thoughtful solutions, timely decisions, and exceptional service.
  • Represent At-Bay at broker meetings, industry events, and other business development opportunities.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities across At-Bay's insurance offerings where appropriate.

Strategy, Collaboration & Innovation

  • Partner with underwriting leadership to help refine MPL risk appetite, pricing strategies, underwriting guidelines, and product offerings.
  • Collaborate with product, actuarial, claims, technology, and other cross-functional teams to improve underwriting performance and the broker experience.
  • Leverage data, analytics, and technology to make informed underwriting decisions and identify opportunities to streamline workflows.
  • Contribute market intelligence and broker feedback to help shape At-Bay's go-to-market strategy and future product development.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for MPL, sharing insights and underwriting expertise across the organization.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience underwriting Miscellaneous Professional Liability (MPL), Professional Liability (E&O), or closely related specialty commercial insurance products.
  • Strong understanding of professional liability exposures, coverage forms, policy terms, exclusions, pricing considerations, and risk selection.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate risks, exercise sound underwriting judgment, and make informed decisions while balancing growth and profitability.
  • Experience developing and managing broker relationships, with a commercial mindset and a track record of driving new business opportunities.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to articulate underwriting decisions and collaborate effectively with brokers and internal stakeholders.
  • Comfortable using technology, data, and analytics to improve underwriting decisions and operational efficiency.
  • Highly accountable and detail-oriented, with a willingness to take ownership of your book of business and the outcomes of your work.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and an interest in helping build and scale a growing insurance product within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • A team-first approach, with the ability to share knowledge, collaborate across functions, and contribute to the success of the broader organization.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
