Your Impact at LILA

The Editorial Content Co-Op joins Lila's Communications team to help tell the story of the company's scientific work across life sciences, materials science, and AI research. Output is published on lila.ai/news and Lila's social channels.

The co-op writes and produces content end to end: drafting articles and social copy, interviewing scientists about their work, scripting and producing short-form video, and building visuals that make complex science legible. They also contribute to content planning and launch strategy, and support occasional team events.

This is a good fit for a candidate who writes clearly about scientific subjects and wants real newsroom-style reps alongside working scientists. The co-op works directly with the editorial team, all former journalists, and reports to the hiring manager. The term runs January through May, based on site in Cambridge at our One Charles Park and Alewife offices.

If you do not check every box below but bring strong curiosity, grit, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, we would love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Building

  • Draft articles, explainers, and social copy about Lila's scientific work
  • Interview scientists and engineers, then turn those conversations into accurate stories
  • Assist in producing short-form video, from concept through script and final cut
  • Assist in building visuals and graphics that make scientific concepts legible to general readers
  • Contribute to the editorial calendar and launch plans for upcoming content
  • Fact-check drafts with internal experts before publication
  • Support occasional team events, including on-site coverage and recaps

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Enrolled in a degree program or recently graduated
  • Strong writing samples in science, technology, or news reporting
  • Ability to explain scientific subjects accurately to non-expert readers
  • Comfort interviewing subject-matter experts and working from primary sources
  • Precision with sourcing, fact-checking, and style consistency
  • Available for the full January through May term, on site in Cambridge

Bonus Points For

  • Coursework in biology, chemistry, materials science, physics, or computer science
  • Experience with video production and editing tools
  • Familiarity with design tools for graphics, diagrams, or data visuals
  • Student newspaper, magazine, or science communication experience

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?

No. You pay once per CV, from $25. Every application goes out with its own CV, written for that posting.
