The posting

At Lilly, the work is demanding because patients are waiting. We unite caring with discovery to help make life better for people around the world, knowing that every decision, every detail, and every day matters. Headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, our over 50,000 employees around the globe take on complex challenges to discover and deliver life-changing medicines, strengthen how health is understood and managed, and support the communities we serve. This is hard, urgent, selfless work—but it’s work worth doing. If you’re driven by purpose and ready to bring your best to work that truly matters for patients, we invite you to join us.

At Lilly, we unite caring with discovery to make life better for people around the world. As a DevOps Engineer on the LillyDirect Pharmacy Covered Entity Master Data team, you will own CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, platform security, and the monitoring and operations that keeps our AWS, Databricks, Reltio, and Transcend integrations reliable. You will work with data engineers, the technical lead, and platform teams across Tech@Lilly. Your work helps ensure the right data, used with the right consent, reaches patients and the business.

What You'll Be Doing

Pipelines and automation

  • Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for data workloads using GitHub Actions or similar tools, with automated testing, security scanning, and approvals.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, optimize pipelines, and resolve failures quickly.
  • Manage build artifacts and packages through Lilly's approved repositories (JFrog Artifactory).
  • Automate promotion of Databricks jobs, notebooks, and configuration across environments.

Infrastructure and platform

  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK) for AWS and Databricks environments, so they are repeatable and reviewed.
  • Manage AWS services used by the platform (for example S3, Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, IAM, KMS, VPC, CloudWatch) with a focus on security and cost, including least-privilege IAM roles and encryption of sensitive data.
  • Support Databricks workspace operations, including cluster policies, Unity Catalog access, and cost governance.
  • Support secure, automated integrations with Reltio and Transcend, including secrets, access, and environment configuration.

Reliability and operations

  • Build monitoring, logging, and alerting for pipeline health, data quality checks, and platform SLAs.
  • Support production releases, incident response, root cause analysis, and document runbooks.
  • Embed compliance controls (access, audit trails, change management through ServiceNow change and incident processes) so releases meet regulatory and privacy requirements.
  • Partner with the technical lead, data engineers, and architecture and security teams to improve developer productivity and release quality.

How You Will Succeed

  • You collaborate with data engineers, architects, and security partners to turn release needs into reliable automation.
  • You automate repeatable work and fix root causes, not symptoms.
  • You build controls for privacy, consent, and compliance into pipelines from the start.
  • You communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders and raise risks early.
  • You keep learning as our cloud and platform adoption grows.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or platform engineering.

Additional Skills and Preferences

  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar), including artifact management with Artifactory or similar tools.
  • Infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK.
  • Strong working knowledge of AWS services and security (for example S3, IAM, VPC, Lambda, CloudWatch), with willingness to build skills in Azure as adoption grows.
  • Scripting or programming skills in Python and shell, plus experience with Git and version control workflows.
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting production workloads.
  • Familiarity with data platforms and pipelines, such as Databricks, Spark, or AWS Glue.
  • Understanding of secrets management, access control, and change management in regulated or security-sensitive environments, including environments that handle sensitive data such as PII or PHI.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical partners.
  • Experience with Databricks DevOps, including Unity Catalog, workflows, and cluster policies, and the Databricks Terraform provider or Asset Bundles.
  • Experience integrating with master data or consent platforms such as Reltio or Transcend.
  • Experience with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow for incident and change management.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, or container-based deployments.
  • Pharmaceutical, healthcare, or other regulated industry experience, including privacy requirements such as HIPAA.
  • Experience with observability tools such as CloudWatch, Grafana, or Datadog.
  • AWS certification, preferably AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or Databricks certification.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
