The posting

Lincoln Tech invites seasoned Medical Assisting professionals to share their expertise on an as-needed basis as Substitute Medical Assisting Instructors. We truly believe your industry expertise will inspire our students. Let's work together to prepare the next generation of Medical Assistants for successful careers in healthcare.

You don't have to be an experienced teacher to be a great instructor. Lincoln Tech has successfully transitioned experienced healthcare professionals with little or no formal teaching background into organized educators. We provide ongoing training, resources, and a structured curriculum to help you succeed in the classroom and lab.

This is a flexible, as-needed opportunity with potential coverage during day, afternoon, and evening classes, as well as occasional Friday or Saturday 4–6 hour workshops focused on clinical skills practice, tutoring, remediation, and RMA/certification preparation.

For someone who discovers that teaching is the right fit, this role can also be a great opportunity to gain instructional experience and be considered for future part-time or full-time teaching opportunities as they become available.

Responsibilities for a Substitute Medical Assisting Instructor

  • Deliver engaging instruction using Lincoln Tech's standardized Medical Assisting curriculum, textbooks, lesson plans, and instructional resources.
  • Provide hands-on instruction and coaching in Medical Assisting clinical and administrative skills.
  • Provide classroom and/or lab coverage during day, afternoon, or evening classes based on availability and program needs.
  • Assist with Friday or occasional Saturday skills workshops, tutoring, remediation, open lab practice, and RMA/certification preparation.
  • Evaluate student skills and performance and provide clear, constructive, and timely feedback.
  • Reinforce professionalism, communication, accountability, patient care, and other expectations of the Medical Assisting profession.
  • Adapt instruction and coaching to meet different student learning needs while maintaining program standards.
  • Collaborate with Medical Assisting faculty and program leadership to provide students with consistent instruction and expectations.
  • Report to the Education Supervisor – Medical Assisting Program.

Requirements for a Substitute Medical Assisting Instructor

  • The necessary academic credentials and work-related experience mandated by the company, state, accreditation, and any other regulatory agencies that monitor compliance.
  • Minimum of three years of related practical Medical Assisting experience (excluding teaching experience).
  • Current Medical Assisting certification/credential as required by applicable standards.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable demonstrating clinical skills, coaching students, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Computer skills and willingness to learn Lincoln Tech's educational technology and learning platforms.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced classroom and lab environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred; Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or other qualifying nationally recognized MA credential welcomed.
  • Experience as a Lead Medical Assistant, MA Trainer, Preceptor, Clinical Trainer, or Medical Assisting Instructor.
  • Experience training, onboarding, mentoring, or precepting Medical Assistants or other clinical staff.
  • Medical Assisting experience across multiple specialties, medical offices, or healthcare settings.
  • Experience with both clinical and administrative Medical Assisting responsibilities.
  • Comfortable teaching from established textbooks, curriculum, lesson plans, and competency standards.
  • Experience preparing or coaching Medical Assistants for certification exams is a plus.
  • A genuine interest in mentoring future Medical Assistants and helping students develop confidence, clinical competence, and professionalism.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
