Job Description

This role will be based in Mountain View, California.

At LinkedIn, our approach to flexible work is centered on trust and optimized for culture, connection, clarity, and the evolving needs of our business. The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team.

LinkedIn was built to help professionals achieve more in their careers. Every day, millions of members use our products to connect, discover opportunities, and gain insights. With a truly global reach, we have a unique opportunity to impact the world’s workforce at an unmatched scale. We are far more than a digital résumé—LinkedIn transforms lives through innovative products and technology.

We are seeking a Manager, Technical Program Management to join our Data Infrastructure TPM organization. In this role, you will lead and develop a team of Technical Program Managers while partnering closely with senior technical leaders to define, prioritize, and drive complex infrastructure portfolios. You will establish and evolve program management governance, execution frameworks, and operating rhythms that enable successful delivery across large, cross-functional infrastructure teams.

The Data Infrastructure TPM team drives large-scale modernization and migration initiatives across LinkedIn’s advanced infrastructure, including in-house data storage and analytics systems, entity management platforms, query and serving layers, and privacy and data governance platforms. The broader Data Infrastructure organization is responsible for building LinkedIn’s next-generation platforms—spanning application and service delivery, compute, massively scalable storage and replication systems, and privacy and compliance.

In this role, you will work alongside some of the best engineers in the industry, applying deep systems thinking and technical judgment across distributed systems, APIs, and large-scale platform architectures. LinkedIn has pioneered and continues to maintain industry-leading open-source technologies such as Apache Kafka, Pinot, Samza, Azkaban, Venice, DataHub, and others, while also leveraging industry standards like Kubernetes, gRPC, and GraphQL. You will help shape programs that operate at extreme scale while contributing to technology that impacts millions of people globally.

At this level, the ideal candidate can clearly articulate complex tradeoffs, dependencies, and interactions that influence program outcomes and coach the team to do the same. You bring a strong balance of people leadership, organizational rigor, and technical depth, and you are effective in driving alignment and execution in highly matrixed environments where authority is not assumed. Success in this role requires demonstrated experience leading teams and large programs, influencing across organizational boundaries, and consistently delivering high-impact results.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Data Infra TPM team and manage the right mix of projects and programs in the portfolio.
  • Manage TPM assignment and allocation and ensure portfolio and project health through appropriate resource allocation, prioritization and focus.
  • Develop product strategies, roadmaps and resource plans with leadership.
  • Partner with Sr. Director/VP level leadership on project execution and team efficiency.
  • Interact one-to-one with individual technical contributors, senior leaders, as well as coaching teams.
  • Evaluate, champion and drive adoption of AI technologies in how TPMs plan and drive outcomes in projects.
  • Help teams be more efficient, and see the big picture and ensure processes scale appropriately with the company.
  • Create a collaborative work environment that fosters autonomy, transparency, mastery, innovation, and learning.
  • Manage and maintain project backlogs and ensure forward momentum with project execution.
  • Lead efforts to resolve project conflicts and establish appropriate resolution paths.
  • Manage dependencies between multiple projects.
  • Mentor individuals in best practices for planning and execution.
  • Develop strong partnerships with technology and business leaders.
  • Assess and mitigate risk exposure.
  • Manage resource planning.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • B.S./B.A. in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of people management experience managing technical and/or technical program management teams.
  • 4+ years of full time program management experience within an Engineering department.
  • Experience managing infrastructure based programs or projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mastered Agile methods and practices through multiple teams (Scrum and Kanban).
  • Practical and advanced theoretical understanding of managing the lifecycle of large-scale programs and projects.
  • Excellent communication skills; skilled at cross-functional and cross-organizational communication and attention to detail.
  • Experience with software engineering practices and familiarity with coding techniques.
  • Ability to traverse both vertically and horizontally in a large organization.
  • Successfully traverse tactical and strategic objectives.
  • Experience in planning and collaboration tools.

Suggested Skills

  • People Management
  • Program Product Management
  • Infrastructure Development
  • Cross-functional collaboration
  • Strategic Roadmaps

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
