CNC MACHINIST II-BC10100 MACHINE SHOP Position Summary The CNC Machinist II is an intermediate-level machinist responsible for independently operating CNC machines, performing basic setups, adjusting and changing all tooling without supervision, troubleshooting routine machine and process issues, and supporting the training of new hires. This role requires strong technical judgment, ownership of assigned equipment, and proactive communication to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. Essential Duties & Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. •    Operate CNC machines in accordance with established programs, work instructions, and safety procedures•    Perform basic CNC machine setups, including tooling changes, offsets, and fixture adjustments•    Select proper material, tool holders, and tooling for assigned jobs in accordance with work instructions and engineering requirements•    Change all tooling independently and without supervision•    Adjust tooling and offsets to maintain dimensional accuracy and part quality•    Troubleshoot routine machine, tooling, and dimensional issues on assigned equipment•    Recognize improper machine functioning and take appropriate corrective action within scope; escalate complex issues to CNC Machinist III, CNC Machinist Lead, or Supervisor•    Use pass down sheets when face to face shift changeover is not feasible. Participate in face-to-face problem-solving meetings to communicate machine status, including:o    Tooling changes and tool life concernso    Maintenance or equipment issueso    Machine performance or repeatability trendso    Status of ongoing setups or jobs in progress•    Demonstrate working knowledge of shop floor systems used for production tracking, quality documentation, and communication•    Assist supervisors, mechanical engineers, and planners with work organization to:o    Support continuous improvement initiativeso    Reduce setup time, cycle time, and machine downtime•    Implement and suggest waste elimination initiatives within the department, including recycling opportunities and reduction of production-related waste•    Train and support new hires on machine operation, tooling changes, inspection methods, and shop procedures•    Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 5S standards•    Comply with all company safety, quality, and production policies•    Perform other related duties as assigned to support operational needsWays of Working, Experience, and Behaviors Ways of WorkingTo perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies: •    Works independently and takes ownership of assigned machines and setups•    Applies technical judgment to tooling selection and adjustments•    Proactively identifies opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and tooling life•    Communicates clearly through pass downs and direct discussions•    Balances productivity with quality and safety expectations•    Escalates issues appropriately rather than attempting fixes beyond scopeExperience •    3–4 years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment•    Experience performing basic CNC setups independently•    Proven ability to select tooling and change all tooling without supervision•    Experience troubleshooting routine machining and tooling issues•    Experience using precision measuring equipment•    Ability to read and interpret blueprints and basic GD&T•    Experience supporting or training less-experienced machinistsExpected Behaviors  •    Follows all safety rules, job safety analyses, and PPE requirements•    Produces parts that meet all quality, customer, and regulatory requirements•    Stops work and escalates concerns when safety or quality risks are identified•    Takes responsibility for machine performance and part quality•    Completes inspections and documentation accurately•    Demonstrates consistent attendance and reliability•    Communicates machine status clearly during pass downs and meetings•    Works collaboratively with supervisors, engineers, and planners•    Supports teamwork and continuous improvement effortsDecision-Making Authority •    Authorized to perform routine setups, tooling changes, and offset adjustments•    Makes independent decisions within assigned scope to maintain quality and efficiency•    Escalates complex setup, programming, tooling, or quality issues to CNC Machinist III, CNC Machinist Lead, or Supervisor Minimum Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.                            •    3–4 years of CNC machining experience or equivalent combination of training and experience•    Ability to perform basic CNC machine setups independently•    Ability to select tooling and change all tooling without supervision•    Ability to troubleshoot routine machining and process issues•    Ability to read and interpret blueprints and basic GD&T•    Strong communication skills for pass downs and problem-solving Physical Demands, Work Environment, Health & Safety  Physical Demands  •    Ability to stand and walk for entire shift•    Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 30 pounds•    Frequent repetitive hand and wrist motions•    Ability to open and close machine doors repeatedly•    Ability to load parts into chucks or fixtures •    Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and grasp as required•    Visual acuity sufficient to read measuring instruments, machine displays, and blueprints Work Environment  •    Manufacturing machine shop environment•    Exposure to machine noise, metal chips, coolants, oils, fumes, and mists•    Exposure to temperature variations•    Required PPE includes safety glasses, steel-toe footwear, and hearing protection Safety and Environmental   Participate in the development and promotion of the HSE cultureBe exemplary in terms of health, safety and the environment, in particular by :     - Respecting and ensuring respect for the instructions and rules established in the field of health, safety and the environment (in particular the LISI golden rules)     - Immediately correcting, whenever possible, or reporting to his or her superiors and/or the HSE department, any malfunction or risky situation in the fields of health, safety and environmental protection     - Implementing preventive actions to reduce the environmental footprint and control health and safety risksParticipate, upon request, in analyses (of risks, incidents) and HSE working groups related to his/her professional scopeBe familiar with the main health and safety risks and the main environmental impacts relating to the scope of his/her workBe familiar with the site's HSE policy and objectivesTo be able to make proposals for improving working conditions and limiting environmental impact
