Job Description

We have an opening for an experienced Business Analyst supporting The LLNL Office of the CIO (OCIO) NNSA initiatives. This position will analyze, plan, and develop solutions pertaining to business improvement initiatives to meet user requirements. In this position, you will cultivate strong partnerships with both the business and mission to influence business case decisions with respect to technology solutions. This position is in the IT Solutions (ITS) Division, matrixed to the OCIO within the Director’s Office.

This position offers a hybrid schedule, blending in-person and virtual presence. You will have the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week.

This position will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.

You will

  • Independently analyze, present state of business/technical processes and workflow, develop alternative future-state approaches / requirements, and facilitate implementation of new or enhanced business solutions.
  • Develop and implement strategies for addressing process gaps / barriers, including processes that cross functions; monitors the progress and impact of changes by working as a liaison between project and technical staff.
  • Provide in-depth consultation to client and technical staff to identify and evaluate standards and procedures to improve overall process efficiency; works cross functionally to build fully functional and controlled business processes. Responsible for end-to-end process maps.
  • Communicate effectively with multi-disciplinary team members. utilizing negotiation skills to influence outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams and leads to effectively meet the goals and schedule of their area of responsibility
  • Prepare customized data reports and data visualizations to facilitate decision making.
  • Train and mentor others on technical skills as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional job responsibilities, at the E01.4 level

  • Independently plan, conduct, and direct the analysis and design of complex business processes.
  • Develop and deliver formal proposals for the implementation of technical changes to improve information and processing systems; serves as the primary contact for management for critical change initiatives.
  • Plans large and complex efforts requiring collaboration of multiple disciplines and management teams.

Qualifications

  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant functional discipline or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Experience in a business operations role (Preferably within ServiceNow) with an emphasis on process optimization.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with process notation / documentation (Preferably BPMN).
  • Advanced experience applying analytical skills to compile, interpret, and present data leveraging SQL and/or data analytic/visualization tools to query data and produce technical reports.
  • Experience applying strong analytical and problem-solving skills to develop practical solutions.
  • Experience interacting with cross-disciplinary teams to design, develop and improve data analytics and business processes.
  • Effective communication skills to interact professionally with others, as well as work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment, multi-tasking and adjusting to changing priorities.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new responsibilities.

Additional qualifications at the E01.4 level

  • Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams utilizing project management methodologies.
  • Experience interacting with technical development teams to define requirements for system integrations.
  • Knowledge of and experience with workflow and integration tools such as ServiceNow.

Qualifications We Desire

  • Experience with ServiceNow.
  • Experience with technical writing and building technical requirements.
  • Experience with BPMN.

Pay Range

$114,900 - $140,712 Annually for the E01.3 level

$137,910 - $168,852 Annually for the E01.4 level

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting; pay will not be below any applicable local minimum wage. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Security Clearance

This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance. If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Also, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.

Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities require separate approval. Hearing aids without wireless capabilities or wireless that has been disabled are allowed in Limited Areas, Secure Space and Transit/Buffer Space within buildings.
