Job Description

We have an opening for an Engineering Coordinator (NIF Shot Review Coordinator) to support the Back Reflection Analysis Working Group (BRAWG) shot review process. In this role, you will help coordinate shot reviews from intake through closure by tracking schedules, organizing materials, supporting subject matter experts, maintaining records, and helping ensure assessments are completed in a timely and traceable manner. You will work closely with the shot responsible individual (RI), assigned reviewers, and other stakeholders to support consistent review practices and effective workflow management.

This position supports Target and Laser Interaction (TaLIS) activities and may also interface with related review and coordination needs as assigned. The work is primarily focused on technical coordination, documentation, workflow tracking, and support of established review processes. This position is in the Laser Systems Engineering & Operations (LSEO) Division, within the Engineering Directorate.

This position requires full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the work.

In this role you will

  • Support BRAWG by reviewing upcoming shots and ensure there is a prioritized plan for completing those reviews through advanced technical and administrative oversight.
  • Coordinate with assigned subject matter experts and the shot RI to support the review of each shot.
  • Act as the point of contact to track the shot schedule and help maintain awareness of upcoming reviews and deadlines.
  • Act as the point of contact with responsibilities to coordinate requests for required review materials and follow up to ensure packages are complete and available for review.
  • Independently support the overall BRAWG workflow by assigning assessments, monitoring progress, documenting outcomes, and maintaining records in the appropriate systems for traceability and future reference.
  • Support comparison of current shot requests to previously executed shots and their observed performance independently with general direction.
  • Provide input and support a controlled review approach in which shot energy is reduced for setup and then increased gradually in a managed manner to minimize the potential for damage.
  • Provide follow-up analysis, technical evaluations, and recommendations including documentation of late changes or updates that affect the review.
  • Ensure that qualified team members are assigned to assess shots and that assessments are completed on schedule.
  • Independently support the review process from intake through closure and coordinate required documentation including tracking action items, status, and due dates.
  • Provide administrative oversight to maintain records and visibility for the working group.
  • Act as the point of contact to ensure that assessments and supporting materials are properly documented, revised as needed, and archived appropriately.
  • Act as a technical lead for documentation entry and record maintenance in systems such as RevEx and the Shot Planner.
  • Help maintain working guidance, reference materials, and other team documentation used to support consistent review practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electronics technology, electrical engineering technology, industrial technology, manufacturing technology, or equivalent combination of education and experience in a technical or engineering field.
  • Advanced technical coordination or technical management experience involving complex projects, operations, or reviews.
  • Ability to mentor others in specific on the job training and to follow established processes and support multiple stakeholders.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and experience working independently as part of a multidisciplinary team in a schedule-driven environment.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to present concepts and ideas in a clear and coherent manner for presentation and interaction with other technical staff members.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting technical review workflows or configuration-controlled documentation.
  • Familiarity with systems such as RevEx or Shot Planner.
  • Experience maintaining traceable records, action tracking, and meeting documentation.
  • Experience supporting multidisciplinary teams or technical coordination activities.
  • Familiarity with risk-based review processes or technical assessment support.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
