The posting

Reporting to a designated Undergraduate Admission leader, the International Admission Counselor is a member of the International Admission team and supports the recruitment, admission, and enrollment of prospective international undergraduate students as part of LMU's broader undergraduate admission strategy. The position provides timely, culturally responsive admission counseling and day-to-day communication with prospective students, applicants, admitted students, and families by email, telephone, virtual engagement, and in-person interaction.

The counselor manages assigned recruitment territories and activities; develops relationships with students, families, school counselors, and educational partners; participates in application review and admission evaluation; represents LMU at recruitment events in assigned international markets; and collaborates closely with the International Admission team and Undergraduate Admission colleagues to advance University enrollment goals. This role requires approximately 8-12 weeks of international recruitment travel annually, along with periodic domestic travel and evening or weekend work associated with recruitment and enrollment activities.

Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Provide admission counseling and responsive communication to prospective international students, applicants, admitted students, and families regarding academic programs, application requirements, admission processes, scholarships and financial considerations, student experience, and enrollment next steps.
  • Participate in approximately 8-12 weeks of international recruitment travel annually in support of University enrollment goals and assigned recruitment territories. Represent LMU at secondary schools, universities, college fairs, counselor programs, individual appointments, and other approved recruitment activities.
  • Manage assigned international recruitment territories and outreach activities, including virtual engagement, on-campus programs, yield activities, and hosting visiting students, families, counselors, and educational partners.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with prospective and current students, families, school counselors, educational organizations, alumni, and other appropriate recruitment partners.
  • Collaborate closely with members of the International Admission team and Undergraduate Admission colleagues to support coordinated recruitment, admission, yield, and enrollment efforts as part of LMU's broader undergraduate admission strategy.
  • Review undergraduate applications and international academic records; evaluate candidates for admission in accordance with established University policies, holistic review standards, committee processes, and delegated decision-making authority.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of recruitment activity, communications, relationships, travel, and applicant interactions in authorized University systems.
  • Support management of the international admission email account and related communication flows to prospective students, applicants, admitted students, and families. Contribute ideas and content for audience-specific outreach under the direction of admission leadership.
  • Collaborate with Transfer Admission, Enrollment Services, and other campus partners to support the recruitment, application review, and enrollment of international transfer students.
  • Collaborate with Undergraduate Admission colleagues and campus partners engaged in international student outreach, transition, enrollment, and student-support initiatives, while referring matters outside the position's admission scope to the appropriate office.
  • Contribute international market and audience insight to recruitment communications, presentations, websites, publications, and other outreach resources in partnership with admission leadership and communications colleagues.
  • Participate in domestic, virtual, and on-campus recruitment and enrollment programs as assigned, including programs that may occur during evenings or weekends.
  • Remain current on international educational systems, admission practices, ethical standards, relevant University policies, assigned markets, and technologies used in student recruitment and applicant engagement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
