Job Summary

Responsible for overseeing and carrying out maintenance, repair and upkeep of restaurant premises, kitchen facilities, electrical systems, equipment and general infrastructure. The role requires practical hands-on skills in electrical troubleshooting, painting, plumbing, carpentry and general technical repairs to ensure all restaurant outlets, facilities and equipment remain safe, functional and in good operating condition.

Key Responsibilities

1. Electrical & Technical Repairs

  • Carry out basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs involving lighting, switches, power sockets, wiring and electrical fixtures.
  • Inspect and maintain electrical appliances, equipment and installations.
  • Identify electrical faults and arrange for licensed electricians to carry out major electrical repairs where required.
  • Troubleshoot technical problems involving restaurant equipment and facilities.
  • Carry out minor installation and replacement works.

2. Restaurant & Kitchen Equipment Maintenance

  • Perform routine inspection and basic maintenance of kitchen equipment, refrigerators, freezers, chillers and other restaurant appliances.
  • Identify equipment faults and arrange necessary repairs or servicing.
  • Attend to urgent equipment breakdowns to minimise disruption to restaurant operations.
  • Coordinate with external technicians and service contractors for specialised repairs.
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained in proper working condition.

3. Painting & General Repair Works

  • Carry out painting, repainting and touch-up works for restaurant walls, ceilings, doors and other surfaces.
  • Perform wall patching, plastering, filling and surface preparation.
  • Repair damaged fixtures, furniture, cabinets, doors, locks, hinges and fittings.
  • Carry out minor renovation, refurbishment and installation works.
  • Maintain the overall appearance and condition of restaurant premises.

4. Plumbing & Sanitary Maintenance

  • Perform basic plumbing repairs involving water pipes, taps, sinks, drainage systems and toilets.
  • Identify and rectify water leaks and drainage problems.
  • Maintain kitchen sinks, floor traps and other sanitary facilities.
  • Coordinate specialised plumbing works when necessary.

5. Preventive Maintenance & Inspection

  • Conduct regular inspections of restaurant outlets, facilities and equipment.
  • Establish and follow preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Identify potential maintenance issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency breakdowns.

6. Contractor & Maintenance Coordination

  • Coordinate and supervise external contractors and maintenance service providers.
  • Monitor repair works to ensure they are completed properly and within the agreed timeframe to minimise disruption to restaurant operations.
  • Obtain quotations and assist management in evaluating maintenance costs.
  • Monitor the usage and inventory of maintenance tools, spare parts and materials.

7. Workplace Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all maintenance works are carried out in accordance with workplace safety requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper housekeeping after completing repair works.
  • Identify and report potential safety hazards, electrical defects and equipment risks.
  • Ensure maintenance tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.

Job Requirements

  • Previous experience in a Bangladeshi restaurant and understand how things work in a restaurant premises.
  • Practical knowledge of electrical troubleshooting, painting, plumbing and general repair works.
  • Experience in maintaining kitchen equipment and restaurant facilities.
  • Good technical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to perform hands-on maintenance and repair tasks independently.
  • Responsible, hardworking and safety-conscious.
  • Relevant technical qualifications or certifications will be an advantage.
