NVH Repair Technician
About the Team
The Manufacturing Quality team plays a critical role in delivering world-class vehicles that exceed customer expectations. This team is responsible for identifying, diagnosing, and resolving vehicle quality concerns with a relentless focus on craftsmanship, attention to detail, and continuous improvement. Working cross-functionally with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Service organizations, the team ensures every vehicle meets Lucid's standards for luxury, innovation, and performance.
About the Role
Lucid is seeking an experienced NVH Repair Technician (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) to support vehicle quality initiatives by diagnosing and repairing concerns related to squeaks, rattles, vibration, wind noise, and water intrusion. This hands-on role requires strong automotive diagnostic and repair expertise, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to identify and resolve difficult-to-duplicate vehicle issues.
The ideal candidate is passionate about vehicle craftsmanship and committed to delivering premium quality standards. All repairs must be completed in accordance with approved work instructions, safety requirements, and Lucid quality expectations.
What You'll Do
- Inspect vehicles for reported squeaks, rattles, vibration, wind noise, and water leaks.
- Perform stationary evaluations and authorized road tests to verify and reproduce customer-reported concerns.
- Diagnose root causes of NVH and water-intrusion issues using systematic troubleshooting techniques.
- Repair squeaks and rattles involving interior trim, instrument panels, seats, doors, consoles, headliners, body panels, fasteners, clips, seals, and related vehicle components.
- Perform approved adjustments, resealing, insulation installation, padding application, component replacement, and other corrective actions.
- Conduct water-leak testing using approved procedures and diagnostic equipment.
- Inspect weatherstripping, seals, glass, body seams, doors, liftgates, and other potential water-entry points.
- Remove and reinstall interior and exterior vehicle components as necessary to access and repair affected areas.
- Verify repair effectiveness through functional testing, water testing, and follow-up NVH evaluations.
- Ensure repairs do not create cosmetic defects, warning lights, additional damage, or secondary concerns.
- Protect vehicle interiors, painted surfaces, glass, and other customer-facing components throughout the repair process.
- Document inspection findings, root causes, repairs performed, materials utilized, and final verification results accurately.
- Escalate recurring defects, significant quality concerns, and repair limitations to Quality and Manufacturing leadership.
- Maintain tools, equipment, materials, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
- Follow all safety regulations, quality requirements, and standard operating procedures.
- Support additional quality, inspection, and repair activities as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2+ years of automotive diagnostic, repair, trim, body, dealership, manufacturing, or quality technician experience preferred.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing squeaks, rattles, wind noise, water leaks, or other NVH-related concerns strongly preferred.
- Ability to remove and reinstall interior and exterior vehicle components without causing damage.
- Working knowledge of automotive fasteners, clips, weatherstripping, adhesives, seals, insulation materials, and sound-deadening systems.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and testing devices safely and effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions, technical procedures, diagrams, and quality standards.
- Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, root-cause analysis, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to communicate effectively and document findings accurately.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record when vehicle operation or road testing is required.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Flexibility to support overtime, alternative schedules, and evolving business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within an automotive OEM, assembly plant, prototype facility, dealership, or vehicle quality organization.
- Experience supporting luxury vehicle or electric vehicle manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with advanced NVH diagnostic techniques and water-intrusion testing methods.
- ASE certification or related technical training.
- Experience utilizing electronic inspection, repair order, or quality reporting systems.
- Knowledge of EV systems and high-voltage safety practices.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and work in confined vehicle spaces for extended periods.
- Ability to repeatedly enter and exit vehicles throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift and carry tools, materials, and components weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand movements and safely operate hand and power tools.
- Ability to visually inspect vehicle surfaces, components, seals, and interior areas under various lighting conditions.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
PPE Expectations
Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, protective footwear, hearing protection, gloves, and any additional equipment required by Lucid safety standards.
Work Requirement
This position is an onsite role supporting manufacturing and vehicle quality operations. Schedule flexibility, including overtime and weekend support, may be required based on production and business needs.
Language Requirement
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform the essential duties of the position, including understanding work instructions, safety procedures, and job-related communications.
Compensation & Benefits: Lucid offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance; life and disability coverage; paid time off; paid holidays, paid sick leave; and a 401(k) retirement plan. Hourly/non-exempt employees accrue up to 120 hours paid time off, and salaried/exempt employee accrue up to 160 hours paid time off. Eligible employees may also participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual cash incentive program. Incentive and equity awards, if applicable, are determined based on individual performance, role scope, market considerations, and overall company results, in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans.
